Bakugou Katsuki’s life was planned for him, and, oh, what a privileged life it was. Money was never an issue. If he asked for something, he got it. He had the best clothes, the most high tech phone, the nicest belongings, and an attitude bordering on rage at all times. Not only was he privileged, but he was smart. He managed to graduate high school two years early and had his PhD in Theoretical and Quantum Chemistry by the time he was 24. He was the top of his field. He traveled, giving seminars and presentations. Science publications found boosted sales every time he was published in one of their magazines or on one of their websites. Countless awards and certificates littered his shelves at home. His life was planned for him the moment he was discovered to be “gifted.” He lived through rigorous schedules formed around studying. He was successful. He made more money than he knew what to do with. More money than most people could fathom a scientist making.

But Katsuki’s life was planned for him. He had dreams, but those dreams were pushed aside by everyone. He wanted to be an athlete. He wanted to be the best Sport Climber in the world and open a nice little cafe on the side. His dreams didn’t seem to matter, though. The world looked at him as though his intelligence was gift too amazing to be wasted on sports. Everyone he knew pushed and pushed until he finally caved and gave up his dreams. 

Katsuki’s life was planned for him, but now he’s tired. He’s 28 years old, bored of working endless hours in a lab, his heart aching for something more. For the first time in his life, Katsuki has decided to make his own plan. He quit his job, ended the lease on his apartment, and left without telling anyone goodbye. He bought a run down cafe in some no-name town, along with a nice little house with a yard. He’s making his own plan, but the world might not like that plan.

Kirishima Eijirou was not privileged. His mother was a carpenter and his father was a mechanic. He and his sister weren’t raised with luxuries, but they were raised with more love and compassion than most. From a young age they were taught to give. They did charity work, helped the community, even raised money to fund a neighbor’s trip to visit family. He came from a family who believed in dreams and doing what you love. Eijirou had dreams, alright. That is, until those dreams were taken from him.

His sister went to college. She got a business degree and moved to the city. Eijirou didn’t want that. He wanted to open his own custom shop. Motorcycles were his passion. Customizing, fixing, upgrading. He loved all of it. He went to college for one year, majoring in mechanics, before that dream was ripped from him by his own hands. His mother got hurt. A work accident left her with permanent damage to her back. She had to give up her construction business. But Eijirou was raised to give. So he gave his dream away, instead taking on his mother’s business.

Eijirou didn’t want it. He hated every second of it. He still does, five years later. In giving away his dream, he managed to completely give up. He gave up on ever achieving it. He gave up on ever being truly, completely happy. Eijirou grew up with love, compassion, and dreams. But he’s given up on his dreams and finding love. All that’s left is the compassion he feels for others.
