One of the most common misconceptions that circulated the fandom is the notion that Dan Heng and Bailu had their powers severed in two, with Dan Heng receiving Dan Feng's destructive half while Bailu received his healing prowess. The explanation behind why this is wrong and where the misconception arises is a complex answer, however.

And it's not hard to see why. In Dan Heng's companion quest, The Dragon Returns Home, establishes this idea of the division. However, this simply isn't true. Bailu and Dan Heng both have the potential to utilize Abundance and Destructive power equally as part of Permanence and the clues are there.

In this same companion quest, the false equivalency of believing that Bailu and DH had a 50/50 split when it came to their respective inheritances is thrown into doubt because Dan Heng himself states that they need to recall their memories, which implies that both he and Bailu have fragmented memories, which in turn affects their powers and how they're limited. This makes sense for the following reasons:

As Bailu's 4th-character story and DH's messages following his companion mission state, their powers derive from their ancestors' knowledge through genetic memory. In the 1.2 MSQ, Topclouded Towerthrust, Dan Heng IL unlocked the "destructive" half of his powers by resonating with the High Elder statue imbued with his predecessors' memories/knowledge.

The same thing happened to Bailu when she and DH worked together to seal the Arbor in Dan Heng's companion quest, The Dragon Returns Home:

To reiterate, it's stated very plainly that Bailu does have the destructive half of her powers, as shown in her 4th character story:

Therefore, it's not that DH lacks Abundance power and can't heal; it's simply that he hasn't unlocked the knowledge to perform healing Cloudhymn. However, even this might not be the case any longer.
