“Thank you, Shadows,” and they flock to her, land gently on her shoulders and melt down to hold her. Sometimes, the shadows say she likes that as much as she likes her Young Seamstresses classes she teaches after breakfast. It always puts Azriel in a good mood. He likes the girls when they come for class. Not the way Cass and Rhys stop talking, or talk too much, or get big and angry like they want to beat Azriel into the ground again in front of the rest of their fellow Young Warriors.
Corliss laughs loud and fun like Cassian does when they’re in the air together, and Azriel just knows she would love it up there with them.
“Corliss, why not?” Shadows are nervous and worried, but he and they usually are around the Young Seamstresses. The other girls are nice and kind and warmth, but Corliss was the first of the girls to come up to him four years ago, cupping her hands for a shadow to drip off Azriel’s hands into her own good ones.

“Yes,” she’s still, even though he nodded for emphasis.

“You’ll love sky that high, you’ll laugh like Cass!” and Corliss doesn’t blush, she goes quiet.
