1. How does your character think of their father? What do they hate and love about him? What influence â literal or imagined â did the father have?
Luz doesnât really remember her father, as he was always away on business. She supposes she hates him for it, but life was easier without him there. He was too harsh a man for her to find much to love about him, frankly. Her father is, frankly, the reason she is so maternal and caring, because she has all this love that she didnât give to him left inside of her.
2. Their mother? How do they think of her? What do they hate? Love? What influence - literal or imagined - did the mother have?
She doesnât, simply. Her mother never cared for Luz, so Luz never cared back. It was a solid system: donât bother mother, mother will not bother you. Luz admires her mothers grace and fashion sense, though she doesnât quite replicate it herself. She hates her motherâs thing for younger men, though, because it means that she canât bring Magnus around when she goes home. Her mother is the reason for the icy demeanor that Luz sometimes has; it was engrained into her from a young age, and she knows nothing different.
3. Brothers, sisters? Who do they like? Why? What do they despise about their siblings?
Luz has no biological siblings, so she counts Magnus as her sibling instead. She adores him, no matter how cynical the old goat happens to be. Heâs fun and a romantic deep down in his gut and itâs quite wonderful to be around. She hates how he doesnât really have self control, which would be expected of his age.
4. What type of discipline was your character subjected to at home? Strict? Lenient?
Literally, none. Neither of her parents cared enough to do anything.
5. Were they overprotected as a child? Sheltered?
6. Did they feel rejection or affection as a child?
A mix of both. Luz was spoiled, but her parents only gave her anything she wanted so she wouldnât complain or beg.
7. What was the economic status of their family?
Very wealthy, itâs why she was able to open a witchery of all places. Besides, she also has money from Magnusâ family.
8. How does your character feel about religion?
That itâs someoneâs own, personal business.
9. What about political beliefs?
She doesnât really have a view on political beliefs. She has a firm belief that everyone should be treated equally, but thereâs never going to be someone who makes everyone equal and she has come to terms with that.
