Starting October last year my roommate and I built custom decks for the game Dungeon Mayhem for our D&D group featuring all 3 teams! I started the art in January and got them printed out in April! It was 42 unique cards and HP+Rules cards across 3 decks.
Many of the cards in this project feature in-jokes from the campaign as well as notable fights we had in our Monster-hunter inspired game.
I also did my best to stay true to Dungeon Mayhem's over the top humor and art by exaggerating traits of our player characters in humorous ways.
I pushed myself to draw in a more loose and cartoony way. I used a new brush and experimented with different shading techniques and texture use that has since bled into all my art. I'm very proud of this style I landed on.
All the cards were printed and shipped. Each player got a copy of their deck. I also put them all on table top simulator so we can play together despite being all over North America.
You can view them all here or you can see each deck in their own posts on tumblr with additional info about the characters and decks. The posts can be found below! "East Coast" "Midwest" "West Coast"
This project was the biggest and coolest thing I've ever done and it's given me a big boost in confidence and has helped me appreciate my own work as an artist more. I hope y'all like these cards. Feel free to use them if you want. It's time for me to figure out what to do next.
Also big shoutout to my roommate(who is also the DM) for making the HP tracker cards and all of the card icons!
I'm in a monster-hunter inspired D&D campaign with 9 players split among 3 groups. We play at different times with guests from one of the other groups in each game. Despite this madness the campaign has run smoothly with tons of great character interactions.
Here's everyone!In order from the 2nd-4th images:
The 'east coast' team. Alston the gnome, Badri the half-orc and Ingemar the halfling.
The 'midwest team': Malaka a half-orc, Nadira a human and Corinna a human with her wyvern companion Arecindario.
And my team, 'west coast.' Featuring Elmon an elf (me), Jihan a human and Rhonwen a dwarf. This was a big challenge but I'm so very happy with how everyone turned out!
Check out all the characters individually here!
This custom deck for the game Dungeon Mayhem features the "East Coast" group of our D&D campaign. With the often slow but genuine Alston the gnome, Badri the seemingly immortal yet paranoid half-orc with many weapons and the mischievous prankster Inge the halfling with their fancy sword moves.
Badri, Inge and Alston provided much of the healing and some of the highest damage in the campaign which is reflected in their deck with higher damage cards and more healing cards than average.
Check out the other decks from the main post here!
