“ And who did you choose as your fighter, my dear? ” He turned to his niece with a wide, toothy grin. Eggman was actively ignoring her persisted disinterest.

" A Motobug. ” Said as plain as bread, with no indication of hope to be found. Was it because Eggette chose the first badnik she locked eyes on from the ‘ready to be scrapped’ pile? Yes. Even if she found this whole ordeal to be insane, at least it kept her out of work for a bit. When the Doctor waited for an explanation, she merely nodded. “ Yeah. ”

“ Well. I hope your little meek Motobug is ready for everything I did to my champ! ” He chuckled, looping an arm around her. Eggman wasn’t ready to spoil the surprise of his ultimate weapon just yet. He began running a thumb through the stack of dollars, ready to double up on his own fortune. Eggman hummed. “ This is to be an interesting fight, no doubt. ”

And as Orbot regretfully announce the participants, Eggman immediately shot up to his feet to wildly applaud his choice of fighter. An Orbinaut, decked out with flame decals and even spikier ... spikes. He truly pulled out all the stops for the little guy. A few days without senseless violence left him really, really desperate to see any sort of action.

Once Orbot rang the bell, Cubot and Eggman were practically glued together like a choir, shouting every sort of encouragement and rage they could muster at the Hot-Wheels branded Orbinaut. Eggette, as expected, did not move from clutching onto herself, observing quietly. She wasn’t even phased as Eggman's champion fired a shot that barely missed her. She was tired.

Doctor slammed the stack of dollars next to the Orbinaut and snapped in close.

“ DO YOU SEE THIS MONEY? YOU WANT THIS MONEY. YOU NEED IT. ”

   Of all places Kuromi visited so far, Mobius had to be the most interesting of them all. Between the magic, technology, and the unexplored that lies between, she had a feeling she’d be staying here a while. And hey, all it took to blend in a little better was to tack on a few inches of height!

   With enough poking around, her first step became blatantly obvious; To get far in this world (figuratively, but also literally, thanks to her stubby little legs), the Eggman Empire would have to become her best friend. Though unfortunately the good Doctor seemed to be out on an ‘important business trip’, Kuromi managed to get the attention of the next best person.

   She explained who she was of course, as well as her home world. She explained her ability to grant wishes using the dreams of others (something she made sure to stress was unique to her), and she gave her usual well-practiced pitch. Really, this might’ve been one of the easiest people she could’ve ever tried to sell her magic to, save for perhaps literal children. There was seemingly no hesitation to it, no questions to be asked, just an immediate request after hearing her out. What the hell was wrong with this girl?

❝ ... ❞ Oh, the hurdles had not stopped for him. It was one thing to face the scariest person on the planet. It was another to face his sister. He can feel the guilt pooling in his stomach; she probably thinks he’s abandoning her... and she’s right. He just... can’t do this anymore. It’s tearing him apart. Tails tried. God knows, he tried. For her, for the Doctor -- but he’s nothing like them, and he never will be. He closes his suitcase.
