I don't have a real world reference picture, but I threw together a quick drawing. Couldn't resist some workday touches. Ta da!

In one of the fics (one of the Solarise Singularities, I think? Mind the ratings anyone venturing to AO3!) I describe Sunrise's ring as so...

"A sliver of rich hickory metal glinted at Sunrise’s left hand’s ring finger, inlaid so seamlessly that it may as well have always been there."

They both used scrap from each other's old burnt exoskeletons after Impact Event to make their rings. Plain, no inscriptions/jewels/etc, but polished and buffed! Means they're not perfect complimentary shades to their own colour schemes, but who cares - all about the sentimental value. They're not separate pieces of jewellery that can come on and off, they're permanently built into their new shells so they're 100% flush to the surface. Like a tattoo in a human.

As for their wedding... maybe. I don't know. Watch this space? And sure, go for it XD

a one-shot (AGAIN ME) for Tock, a Sun who became the clock astral

THEN the Thanos snap arc and fuck knows how long that'll be, I want that to be the last big plot piece

That's a lot of work, not including my side-quest to draw the characters more. In hindsight, I should've taken a much longer break after Impact Event. I'm incredibly proud of that fic, but it was a labour of love and took a lot out of me. Getting back into it has been a slog, honestly.

Plus I have a whole host of pesky real life gubbins to be getting on with. I am endeavouring to work on the series, but patience is a must.

Sun, has called New Moon / Nexus his twin.

But he also seemed to have called Old Moon that?

So...now that he is back...how is this part going?.

Cause I can't imagine nexus and old moon calling each other twins?

...I bet Old Moon had quite some feelings about Nexus Bering called Suns twin

This is a good’un. Apologies for the essay.

Old Moon’s in a pickle and has no one to blame but himself, which means his margin for complaining is very small. He chose to “die” and swap in New Moon (let’s just call him Nexus herein for clarity). He chose to sacrifice himself and, consequently, forfeit his position in the family and abandon Sunrise.

Now he’s back, having been instrumental in rescuing Sunrise, Solar and Swift. But he can’t just pick up where he left off because so much has changed. Killcode and Bloodmoon are part of the family. They have a sister. Chaos abounds on a daily basis, but they’re happy.

Old Moon meant for Nexus to be better than him. Better person, better brother. But the reality of coming back and finding that Nexus speedran the mission and has a special bond with Sunrise is, selfishly, a bitter pill for Old Moon to swallow. Nexus struggles hard with feeling inferior to Old Moon, but Old Moon secretly feels the same way about Nexus.

Which brings us to Sunrise. Old Moon loved his twin and would’ve died for him, but he didn’t treat him well. Now he’s in a position where if he reverts to old habits - ignoring and bullying, using the killcode voice, “test subject” treatment, or whacking sticks, etc - there would be hell to pay. The family won’t tolerate it, never mind what Solar would do. And Solar’s a hell of a shock to the system - Sunrise has ended up with an eclipse-model, of all things. Someone clever and steadfast who won’t take any of Old Moon’s nonsense, and won’t allow Sunrise to slip into old doormat habits either.

So Old Moon has to share Sunrise in a way he never had to before. He has to compete for his time, approval, affection, everything. He’s no longer the centre of Sunrise’s world.

Long story short in answer to your question - Sunrise sees both Old Moon and Nexus as twins to him. Not in that they’re the same person, but they’re both closer than brothers. Old Moon and Nexus however do not think of each other so fondly. For a long time they’re not even friends, they just happen to share a twin. They’re both sometimes incredibly stubborn and childish about it and compete for “best twin” position. Sometimes it’s funny, sometimes it’s horrible and hurtful. It’s a work in progress.

Ultimately, Old Moon is hurt and bitter than Sun calls Nexus his twin too, but he also knows that it’s his fault, and therefore can’t say a word about it. He made Nexus, so now he has to share.

Hello and thank you for the ask! Interesting one too. Apologies for my tardy response, and for the essay answer. Here be.

I stumbled across TSAMS entirely by accident via kriim's fantastic bunker argument animatic (I understand they've distanced themselves from the fandom, so I don't want to bother them with an @.) I remember thinking this is brilliant! Audio must be from a film I've not seen. Cool. But then the characters call each other "Sun" and "Moon", so plainly something at least vaguely in-universe. Curious. I went searching for the original media and fell down the rabbit hole. This was back just before the OG October takeover with Eclipse v1.

I then didn't write fanfic for TSAMS for a looong time. Solar didn't exist back then, and he's the main character of Celestial Phenomena. I just enjoyed the show up until I had a very non-serious idea about a stupid little morning-after story with my two favourite characters. I was on AO3 anyway. "Crowded Orbit" (god, remember that one?) was only intended to be a standalone one-shot short fic. Which in hindsight is hilarious, since "Crowded Orbit" now stands as part 7 of a (currently) 18-part series.

So how did it spiral into the beast it is now? Because I'm a sucker for punishment.

First came the question "how did Solar and Sun end up where they were in "Crowded Orbit?" Fair enough. And by the time I'd sketched that out, I started chewing over how I could tackle two BIG events - confronting Solar's Moon and Ruin's Thanos snap. But as some may know, I am deeply allergic to making life easy for myself and couldn't just time skip from "Crowded Orbit" to life-changing boss battle. That's cheating, right? 👀 And while I was at it, why not unravel the character's backstories and lore?

Essentially, I adamantly refused to start on the big boss battle ("Impact Event" in this case) without laying the groundwork of relationship-building, character arcs, plot points, etc. No cutscenes skipped. The whole point was to build to an earned finale, with multiple plot threads reaching quite far back in the timeline, decent payoff and a whole lot of polish.

So, in a nutshell. "Crowded Orbit" was written for fun, with no plans for more. Then I had ideas for endgame fics, and didn't want to write them until I'd 'earned' it, daft as that might sound. I hope Celestial Phenomena will have at least 21 parts by the time I'm done. I've got more i's to dot and t's to cross before I can tackle the Thanos snap, after all, and life is incredibly busy.

I absolutely adored the tattoo, piercings/earings and customised rays you had given them.

They of course got both all new casings after impact event.

So are there plans for them. To 'get them back' so to speak. of course not the same but similar stuff.

It might be that it's not a huge priority for them right now. I get that. Just curious

They absolutely will get new tattoos/piercings/embellishments etc. As robots, they could reproduce exactly what they had before, but I don't think they would. Something new, but still in keeping with what they lost.

A full tattoo sleeve for Solar, mix of engraving, liver of sulphur, maybe some branding courtesy of Sun's arcane fire, metal overlays, all kinds. Something very 'mixed-media' and textured. He'll get his ray piercings again, and Earth will dutifully supply a bazillion earrings that aren't exactly his style but he'll happily wear anyway XD

not the point though! you mentioned in one of your posts that nexus and sun “blue eyes” ’s relationship/connection is a crush thing.

will we get to know more about them together? will we have a chapter/oneshot dedicated to them? DO THEY KISS??

One of the chapters of "Observations in Gravitation" will be called Wildflowers on Occasion, and will include Nexus and Blue Eyes meeting for the first time - and the impact of Blue Moon's killcode.

Whether I write more one-shots about them is still up in the air. Will likely depend on their reception!

Firstly, thank you so much for your kind words. I really appreciate them! I think I’ve answered this previously, but nevertheless—I have a few more instalments planned in the series.

I’m also working my way through redrawing the main cast. Solar, Sunrise, Nexus and Blue Moon are done - Eclipse coming next!

…which is not a small amount yet to tackle. There’s lots drafted, but nothing finished or edited yet. I’m working on it between real life and what motivation I can dredge out of the dregs of my marrow. Hope that gives you something to look forward to though!
