#bad drafts

so i’m thinking of writing a robglenn one after i finish my current fic. one set between s11 and s12, when rcg are doing their writing process for s12 and rob knows there’s going to be one of two outcomes with the conclusion of s12 (glenn either leaves the show or commits to being in an on screen relationship with dennis/mac). he’s kind of been seeing this outcome since season 9 and glenn is only really coming to terms with it now. it’s a bit of a touchy area because in the early days, rob and glenn have talked about it. they’re both okay with it. they know fox might not be okay with it. which is part of why they postponed it for so long.

but also, it has been that long and rob kind of feels like they need to do mac justice. if they can make danny devito funny they can make out gaymac funny too. but the thing is, and glenn never tells him but rob kind of knows anyway because glenn has this backwards kind of way of indirectly expressing his regrets about life - anyway, glenn kind of has this notion that he has not ‘wasted’ but hindered his ability (as a julliard actor) to do truly great work. he’s not so open about it but he’s bitter that charlie is in big blockbusters and he’s not, and part of that is that charlie is so good for comedy, he looks the part, he sounds the part. but for glenn to play serious roles, he... has kind of missed his time. he’s not as young and handsome anymore. he’s still hella handsome but time is waning. he probably feels a bit mortal too. 

mac doesn’t mind so much that he’s still doing his show 12 years in. it’s his life. his creation. he loves kaitlin and his kids and the crew on the show which are like his second family. and he gets where glenn is coming from, but he’s penned the show for so long with glenn that he doesn’t know how it will go without him, especially if charlie doesn’t step up. fox might hire an exec writer to take glenn’s place... 

there’s also jealousy/inadequacy issues when rob marries kaitlin, super hot, super hilarious and talented woman. and charlie is happy with mary elizabeth. glenn has to have a hot wife obvs. as well, hotter than the others though.
