A rinkside seat

Is there anything more quintessentially Canadian than heading out to your tiny backyard skating rink in negative 18 degree weather to practice your stick handling under the moonlight?

I was outside flooding my rink after not feeling great for a few hours cause I had too much spicy stuff on my tacos. I get outside, shovel off the snow, and I'm feeling good. Partway through flooding, I start to notice the ice was steaming. Started thinking I was crazy, and it could have been my breath, but nope, the ice was steaming. Later on, I started seeing hundreds of sparkles everywhere. Sort of like when you watch a sporting event and every damn person there is taking a flash photo. Turns out it was snowing really lightly. Tl;Dr It's Canada, not in drugs

After my foot went through the backyard rink. Big hole. lol

It's amazing what you can do with some sidewalk chalk and a few spare hours. This was done for my 3 year old's hockey themed birthday party. Tons of work, but I think everyone really enjoyed the home ice advantage when all was said and done.
