Do you have any tips on how to keep gliding when doing backward 1-foot glides? I've discussed with a coach on how to improve and all but everytime I lift my leg I immediately come to a halt and stop gliding backwards.
I would assume you are leaning a bit to forward and dragging your toe pick as that is the most common mistake. Don’t try and rectify this by leaning back, as you will fall, you need to ‘sit’ back on you heels. Your body must be straight and square but you weight must sit towards the back of you boot try and press your heel down into the ice. The other thing that will help is getting up speed as you’ll have more time to find your balance instead of slowing down and stopping before you find it.
Good luck!!
