Summary: Chat Noir laments the perfect façade Adrien has to keep up, and, surprisingly, Ladybug can relate. Much snuggling follows.

Near the end of their patrol, Ladybug and Chat Noir slowed to a stop on a rooftop not far from the bakery.
âIs everything okay, Chat Noir?â Ladybug called to her partner. âYouâve been really distracted tonight.â
He blew out a sigh and jabbed a finger at the billboard a few houses over. âItâs these new Gabriel ads. They drive me nuts.â
She blinked, turning to study the picture of Adrien all in white. He was reclining with his legs elevated, as if propped up on a chair or something out of frame. He smiled beatifically as he reached out a finger to pop one of the bubbles floating in a cluster before him.
âWhatâs wrong with it?â Ladybug inquired curiously, not seeing the problem.
Chat shook his head, running a hand vigorously through his messy locks. âItâs just⌠It bugs me that no one takes him seriously.â
âYou mean Adrien?â She moved to stand beside him, hoping to see what he was seeing so she could understand why he was so agitated.
âThey portray him as this airheaded, fairytale prince who flies like a genie and walks on air and doesnât have a care in the world,â Chat grumbled, gesturing at the billboard with one arm while the other wrapped itself around his waist in an attempt at self-comfort.
âI get that his job is to sell products, and Iâm not saying they should dress him like some emo goth kid with a bad case of teenage angst, butâŚâ
He blew out a sigh as he sank to the rooftop cross-legged, staring up melancholically at the shining image of a young man who wore his face but wasnât him.
ââŚI wish they portrayed him as a human being,â Chat whispered. âLike this, heâs like a character out of mythology. Heâs not real. He doesnât have feelings. Heâs just there to be ogled and fantasized about.â
Ladybug winced as she thought back to her own gawking and daydreams in the past.
âThey donât let him be human,â Chat continued in a dejected mumble. âThey donât let anyone see that heâs lonelyâŚthat he misses his parents, that he wishes he could hang out with his friends moreâŚthat heâs sad sometimes because his life isnât the perfect fantasy they try to paint it as. âŚI just wish they let him be real from time to time.â
Ladybug lowered herself to the roof beside him and wrapped an arm around his shoulders, resting her head against his.
âIs that how you feel too sometimes, Chaton?â she inquired gently.
He nodded, closing his eyes and sinking into her warmth, letting it comfort him.
âItâs hard being a hero,â she confessed. âI definitely feel that pressure too. We canât be human. We canât make mistakes or screw things up. We have to keep up the perfect image the people of Paris have of us. I understand how you feel.â
âJust knowing that Iâm not alone makes a world of a difference, My Lady,â he chuckled through the building tears, turning his face to nuzzle her cheek.
âYouâre never alone, Chat Noir,â she stressed, pressing a kiss to the tip of his nose. âNo matter what, youâll always have me. Weâre in this together.â
âThanks, Buguinette,â he whispered, voice thick.
âAny time,â she promised.
She sat there with him patiently until he slowly stopped trembling.
When he seemed to have calmed down, she pulled back slightly. âWant to watch a movie and snuggle?â
He blinked at her, wondering if he had fallen asleep and was now dreaming. âSerious offer?â
She nodded. âOf course. Do you want to?â
âI meanâŚabsolutely,â he laughed, still taken aback that the last ten minutes had actually happened.
âPerfect. Wait right here,â she instructed with a wink as she got to her feet. âIâm going to go hit Marinette up for some blankets and leftover pastries.â
He opened his mouth to protest, but she waved away his concern. âMarinette wonât mind. You know she adores you. She wouldnât pass up the chance to feed her favourite stray cat.â
A sheepish smile lit up his face. âShe is very good to me.â
âYou deserve it,â Ladybug whispered fondly, making his eyes go wide at the depth of the affection in her voice.
âBe right back!â she squeaked, retreating before she could show even more of her hand and let him guess just how much she truly cared.

Plagg and Adrien (Background Adrienette/Marichat): Duality (One-Shot)
@mnzknight96 asked for Plagg and Adrien, âdualityâ. Thanks for the prompt! ^.^
Summary: Adrien gets friendship (dating) advice.

Chat Noir backflipped through his window into a three-point landing, calling off his transformation as he stood.
Almost immediately, his effulgent mood plummeted, and he went over to bellyflop onto his bed with a sigh.
âWhatâs wrong, Kid?â Plagg chuckled as he zipped over to the mini fridge where Adrien kept the cheese hoard. âYou miss your Princess already? You just spent the past three hours cuddling and flirting.â
âChat Noir did, you mean,â Adrien grumbled, fingers curling around the comforter.
Plagg paused in the middle of lifting a wheel of Brie to his mouth to cock an eyebrow at his holder. âLast time I checked, thatâs still you.â
Adrien shook his head. âIt doesnât feel real, though. Marinette would never act like that if I went over there as Adrien, so I feel like Iâm tricking her. âŚShe doesnât like Adrien.â
With a heavy sigh, Plagg set down the cheese and floated over to land on the duvet beside his kitten. âSure she likes you, Adrien. You two are friends. You hang out all the time.â
âBecause our best friends are dating,â Adrien protested. âIf Nino and Alya ever split, I doubt Marinette would bother with me. I make her uncomfortable.â
Plagg mentally swore at Tikkiâs girlâs inability to function around her crush. It had been causing problems for Plaggâs kid for years now.
âNo, you donât. She always has a great time with you,â Plagg insisted. âYouâre one of her closest friends. Didnât she tell you that when you were over there tonight?â
With a sigh of frustration, Adrien pushed himself up. âAgain, thatâs Chat Noir.â
âWhich is you,â Plagg snorted, flying in to flick Adrien on the nose.
âHey,â Adrien groaned, covering the injury with a hand. âWhat was that for?â
âYou were being dumb,â Plagg answered flatly. âAfter three years, itâs finally getting on my nerves.â
Adrien opened his mouth to retort, but Plagg cut him off in a gentler tone.
âListen, Kid. I think you know that Chat Noir isnât some act you put on. Thatâs a part of who you are, and Marinette genuinely likes that part of you, doesnât she?â
Adrien blinked as he considered for a moment. ââŚYeah. She does.â
âOkay. So, she likes you, yeah?â
Adrien slowly began to nod. âYeah. I guess youâre right.â
Plagg gave an amused snort. âIâm always right. Iâm glad you finally noticed.â
âDonât get a big head,â Adrien cautioned with a fond eye roll. âThe one you have is already disproportionate to the rest of your body.â
Plagg flew in to give Adrienâs nose another flick. âDonât get sassy when Iâm doing you a favor, puny mortal.â
âWhat favor are you doing me exactly?â Adrien arched an eyebrow as he rubbed at his sore nose.
âIâm coaching you on how to become closer to your Princess in your civilian form.â
Adrienâs eyes went wide, and he leaned in closer. âWhat should I do?â
âTake notes,â Plagg chuckled. âI donât know when the next time I feel this generous will be.â
Adrien scrambled to grab his phone off the nightstand and open up his notes app. âReady.â
âFirst off,â Plagg began to list, holding up a paw, âyou should ask her to spend time with you one-on-one. Take her fun places. See if you can get her in to see photoshoots and runway shows and those awful gala things you hate attending alone. Make an effort to spend more time with her as Adrien.â
âBut being alone with me makes her nervous,â Adrien sadly pointed out.
Plagg waved his paw dismissively. âShe just needs to get used to it. She has no problem hanging out with you as Chat Noir, so it shouldnât be a problem once she realizes how similar you two are.â
Adrien gulped. âBut what if she starts realizing that Chat Noir and Adrien are a little too similar?â
Plagg pushed Adrienâs worries to the side again. âYou trust her, donât you?â
âWell, yeah, butââ
ââAnd she knows what a big deal secret identities are,â Plagg continued. âChances are she wonât even say anything to you about it, so you wonât have to tell Ladybug that your identity is compromised. Itâll be fine.â
Adrienâs eyes narrowed. âIâm not sure about this.â
âWeâll cross that bridge when we get there. How does that sound?â Plagg offered.
Adrien considered briefly before nodding. Making complicated, long-term plans had never been his strong suit, so he was willing to put off thinking about the possible issues of getting close to Marinette on both sides of the mask until later.
âSo, what else should I do to get Marinette to like me as Adrien, oh Wise One?â
âBribery,â Plagg replied with a conspiratorial grin. âGet her stuff. Just little gifts here and there. It doesnât have to be anything big or expensive that would make her feel awkward. Maybe bring her coffee sometimes or pack breakfast for her. Just little things that sheâll appreciate. Maybe a small bouquet of flowers just because you were thinking about herâŚJagged Stone ticketsâŚsome fabric scraps your father isnât going to use.â
Adrien furiously took notes, his thumbs flying across his phoneâs keyboard. âThatâs actually a fantastic idea, Plagg. I know we have a bunch of lace that he used for the winter formal line last year thatâs just lying around gathering dust. I bet someone as creative as Marinette could turn those scraps into something amazing.â
Plagg nodded encouragingly, a satisfied smirk pulling at his lips as his kitten began to brainstorm his own ideas for small gifts for Marinette and fun places he could take her so that they could get to know one another better one-on-one.
It was an ingenious scheme, if Plagg did say so himself. Even Tikki was sure to applaud him once their holders were together and living happily ever after.
