So in professional wrestling, there are “faces” and “heels”--roughly, protagonists and antagonists.  The faces are there to draw cheers from the crowd, and the heels are there to be villains--menacing or cowardly, they’re meant to be foils to the faces, and draw boos from the crowd.

Trouble is, there are two kinds of heels.  The first kind of heel is a great villain--someone you enjoy seeing so you can cheer for the other guy, someone who’s a great performer and fun to hate.  The second kind of heel is just incredibly annoying.  They’re not fun.  They’re not funny.  They’re not menacing.  They’re just a chore to watch, and you dread them coming on screen.
