♙ for babogen lol ty
It was only after she’d gotten up to walk into Baby’s bedroom that she realized that she wasn’t actually sure if her best friend was home. She’d been packing all day and hadn’t really stopped to talk to her roommate, who could very well be at Lip’s for the night.
They were flying home for the summer the day after tomorrow, and Imogen was antsier than she thought she would’ve been. She’d always known she would grow attached to the city, but she hadn’t expected to grow attached to a person here, either. And while she had plans to spend the entirety of her last day with Finch, it still made getting to sleep in anticipation of it nearly impossible.
Baby could fix that.
Luckily for Imogen, she was home, and didn’t seem all that surprised when she barged in without knocking, and flopped face down onto her bed. Baby also patiently moved the magazine she’d had resting on her lap out of the way as Imogen nuzzled her head underneath it so she could rest her head in her lap instead.
Baby immediately started gently running her hands through Imogen’s hair, who responded with a soft hum of appreciation, letting her eyes fall shut. “Can’t sleep?”
Imogen only nodded, curling her knees into her chest, not quite ready to vocalize just how much she was going to miss the city, and Finch, and how scared she was that both would forget about her while she was gone.
As if she’d been reading her mind, Baby paused in a braid she’d been working into her roommate’s hair to say, “He’s going to miss you like crazy.”
Imogen smiled in a sad sort of way, sitting up, but instead of leaving, she got into bed beside Baby, knowing she didn’t really need an invitation as she burrowed herself under the covers, settling back into the pillows. “I think I can sleep now.”
Baby nodded and turned off the lamp by her bed, and finally, with her best friend beside her and the knowledge that the stupid cat was out in the living room, Imogen managed to sleep.
