Hey guys, I think some of you should learn that it's okay to hate, dislike, disagree with and even not want to speak to individual people in your life, who have acted consistently harmful to you. And it's important to keep that in mind, when people say that it's not okay to generalize, stereotype or stigmatize a whole community of people.
Because it will always be okay to feel betrayed, to feel awful when mistreated, to walk away from somebody that hurt you. It's okay to have those emotions and act accordingly to protect yourself.
I personally do not get along with many neurodivergent people, and I explicitly don't make friends in trauma communities, because I know I'm going to get triggered or I'm accidentally going to trigger someone else.
But despite this, despite my misgivings, grievances and personal issues with people. I still push against using harmful terminology (psychotic, narcissistic, delusional, delulu, slurs, etc.), and I still advocate for disabled rights, and the inclusion of disabled or mentally ill people in these spaces.
I could have, and you could have, a terrible experience with other people. But you should not exclude, mistreat or discriminate against others based on their disability, mental illness or otherwise. You should still advocate for consent, autonomy and rights for all people. You should still understand you shouldn't generalize someone based on their disorder or disability. You should still be fighting for all of us and promote unity.
So no matter what, it's okay if you don't like someone with xyz disorder, it doesn't make you a bad person. But please, PLEASE, don't treat everyone with xyz disorder like a bad person, just because one person hurt you. Thank you. Always try to respect others you don't know, your treatment is their first impression of you, as well.
