"M-maybe not, but it's the truth." Bob sighs, getting up from his seat and walking towards Ava. He stops just a few steps in front of her, eyes harbouring that threatening golden glow.

"You all think you're doing something here. We're all just kidding ourselves, aren't we?! What the hell are we doing? Do you all really want to stay under Valentina for god knows how long?" In his tangent, the younger causes the common room's lights to flicker. He's pissed about all of this, and with Bob's manic tendencies, emotions tend to be pushed to the extremes.

It wasn't even a big deal. It was one casualty, a staff member that had become some sort of whistleblower for the Void's atrocities in New York. One that Valentina had "dealt with", after revealing Bob's real identity in the NYC tabloids.

Cue the rest of them trying to comfort him out of it. Bob's not even sure what he wants, nor is he sure how he feels. Would he have to stay in hiding for his whole life, until these people deem it "okay" for him to go venture out on his own again? Until it was finally subdued?

Yelena is falling. Her stomach flips, then — the air punches out of her lungs with a huff as Yelena's cheek collides hard with the floor. Stars snap bright in her vision. A thin, whiny groan ekes out between her lips. She inhales slowly, her sore lungs pinching at the chalky dust kicked up by her landing. Her cheek is pressed into the polyurethane gym mat, arm at a crooked angle beneath her. Weight settles, light but firm, between her shoulder blades.

Round over.

"That's cheating!” Yelena grumbles into the mat. She shoves her palm into the floor just enough to shift her trapped arm around from under herself, then flops back onto her stomach, defeated. Sure, if she could flicker in and out of corporeal reality, she’d use it to win a fight without question. But when Ava did? “You know that's cheating.”

But Yelena’s having trouble schooling the corners of her mouth into agreeing with her tone. Fuck, what was in her head? She’d lost, and here she was, tongue pinned between her canines to keep a dopey grin at bay. It had been a good fight. Hard. Close. Evenly matched for the most, and even better for Ava’s little bit of trickery, though Yelena would never admit it. (She thinks it, though, over and over — wow.)

The feathery aftershock of adrenaline hums down her spine. Yelena is suddenly very glad she can’t see Ava’s face like this.

“Oohkay. Let me up now. Next round ‘m getting my bites. Only fair.”

This is supposed to be a game - harmlessly flirty at best, an embarrassing inside joke at worst. A story they’ll groan at the next morning regardless, while half of them nurse their raging hangovers. It’s not supposed to be real.

But the jolt low in her ribs is.

Yelena slides her finger through the condensation beading down the side of her bottle, pretending she needs to think. She doesn’t. She’s already got an answer - one she’s turned over in her mind more than she should, maybe. Hardly professional to think of your teammate like that, but so far, Yelena hasn't summoned the will to feel too guilty.

She lets her gaze list over to Ava. Nails tap-tap-tap against the glass, a nervous give.

"Hm. Tall, pretty, used to hate me - what do you think I’m gonna say?”

Briefly, Yelena entertains the easy lie just to hear Ava scoff. See if she’d roll her eyes. But - part of her is curious. Wonders (maybe foolishly) if being honest would break the ice.

    . . . and so with the Manor all to her lonesome , what's a firework makin' mutant gal supposed to do ?

    That answer to that question would appear as she reached the peak of the grand spiral staircase , with the sight of an intruder literally phasing through a wall down the hall emphasizing that particular notion .

    A moment of silence befell between the two . . . eyes locking with one another in a form of awkwardness ; the straw of her freshly brewed mango dragon fruit smoothie present in the clutches of her lips , ❝ Ya' know . . . typically pizza girls use the front door . ❞ the mutant jested , perhaps trying to bring levity to the situation despite how seriously dangerous it could turn out .

    Jubilee would make note of the other's features : the lengthy flow of black hair , a pretty face with a captivating complexion , an appealing athletic build , and of course . . . stealth attire , freshly dampened by the elements looming just outside the walls of the mansion . From Jubilee's social perception skills , @babaykc initially comes across as a potentially friendly soul that just got lost in the storm . . . she'd be willing to wager the pink cast she currently wore on her arm .
