#baa-senpai

I’m excited for the update…! Sadly I’m just an iOS user so I drew my fav instead. Baa deserves all the tea leaves he can get.

Thanks a lot @notice-mesenpai I really enjoyed writing this so hopefully you will too! I always have scenarios of NMS running in my head but never had a chance to write one down. Your contest really made me sit down and cook something up so thanks! ^o^ OH and congrats on having 400 followers! :)

Baa-Senpai has never really had friends. It’s probably due to fact that many find him a mystery and don’t try to get to know him. Or that they’re too scared to even approach the weird Goat mascot. For Baa-Senpai, he can’t help it. He loves putting on an act as a goat. Before he first started out as a mascot, he was too shy to even approach a classmate. The day he put on the goat mask, he was more sociable. (Even though the only things he would say is “Baa.” Or “Baaaaa-aaa”) Nevertheless, he felt more confident in himself. He was no longer Akira, but be known as Baa.

Strangely enough Baa-Senpai loved being his new self, but was starting to feel lonely. He felt excitement to start a new year in the class 3-B because it was a chance to make new friends. He soon would have to see the reality of the situation. Class 3-B seemed like a rowdy bunch, and it looked like the class was starting off live and cheery; but without him. There was no one from his previous class which he thought was great. As he looked around, all of his classmates were already in their own circle of friends. He recognized Tokiya from the Drama club talking to the school’s cupid Ai about the upcoming play. He saw Touya with Kei and others as well. All around everyone had someone to chat with. It was going to be difficult to make friends at this point.  

Weeks passed and Baa-Senpai was satisfied with how fun his class was. Everyone was nice to him as well. He secretly felt a pain of sadness because his class were filled with fun classmates, but he still hadn’t made a friend.  He sighed while he remembered his futile tries earlier in the year. It was now lunchtime and he was sitting outside in his favorite place that was a grassy area with bushes.

“Here I brought some more leaves for you!” Baa heard a voice said. He looked up to find a boy with fluffy pink hair and bright eyes. It was Yuu. Yuu-Senpai appeared out of nowhere during lunchtime a few weeks ago. It happened when Yuu stumbled on his foot. Instead of apologizing his eyes turned starry and exclaimed “Cute!” The following day Yuu gave him some plants to eat and then proceeded to pet Baa’s head. He had heard that Yuu was very social, and hangs around everyone. He let Yuu be Yuu. He was more concerned with how to make friends.

“Do you not like it?” Yuu asked with a teary face “Baaaa” he sheepishly said and received the leaves Yuu had brought him.

One day, as he was heading to lunch outside he heard two students talking in the hall.

“The cute Yuu-chan hasn’t been hanging around us lately.” “Yeah it’s because he’s been with that Goat mascot lately.” “Really?” “Yeah. He probably thinks he’s an actual goat. Won’t be long ‘till he leaves him.”

This devastated Baa-Senpai. He couldn’t believe what he had heard. Lunch was horrible. The only thing he could remember were those echoing words those students said and Yuu trying to get his attention.

He spent the next day eating lunch in his classroom. He was able to see Yuu out there in his lunch spot, he felt bad, but he couldn’t be with him that day. At night after moving restlessly he finally began to doze off. His dreams only consisted of the memories he had with Yuu. He would remember how Yuu would feed him plants and how Yuu would spend his whole lunch time talking to him. They were amazing conversations. Baa suddenly woke up. He realized that Yuu could have been a friend. There was no way a friend wouldn’t do that. But now it was all over. Yuu only thinks of him as a goat, not a friend. It will all be over in a matter of days, unless he did something.

The next day felt like the longest day for him. Baa-Senpai stared at the clock and waited an eternity until it was time for lunch. It was finally time. Baa-Senpai went and headed outside at his usual spot. He was getting nervous. It was only a matter of time until Yuu came.

Baa-Senpai waited and waited but Yuu didn’t appear. The feeling of nervousness soon went away and were being replaced by sadness. He thought Yuu had gotten tired of him.

“I’m so sorry! I’m late!”

Baa-Senpai looked up to see a panting Yuu

“Sensei asked for help and I couldn’t refuse. Then when I was heading here I had forgotten something.”

Suddenly Yuu began to show him a bento box full of berries “I thought we could eat them together!” Yuu said with his usual cheery smile.

Yuu was acting like himself. He even brought berries so they could eat together. He felt a sense of relief. But his nerves kicked back again. He still needed to tell him something. He proceeded to take off his mask and looked at Yuu eye to eye.

“But I’m not actually a goat.” His voice spoke.

There was a brief silence. Baa-Senpai was expecting Yuu-Senpai to be confused or have a pouty face on but saw none. Instead he saw his usual smile.

“Silly! Don’t you think I know that?” “I thought you liked me because I was a goat.” “No.” Yuu nodded and proceeded to sit down.

“I used to always see you eat by yourself. I always wondered why since you looked so interesting to talk to and you looked so cute too! One day after I was talking to some of my classmates I realized I was lonely. I would talk to everyone, but I never sat down with only one person and truly talk to them. So I decided to talk to you!”

“So you weren’t going to leave?” “No? I don’t think so.” “Why? People usually don’t like me.” “I realized that being with you, I could truly act like myself. I noticed that everyone just wanted me around because I was ‘cute’ and they never gave me the chance to truly talk to them. But with you, I could talk all I want and I felt like myself. Don’t you feel like yourself when you’re with me?” Yuu asked with a smile.

Baa started to think of all the times they spent together. Even though Yuu would mostly talk, he could never get tired of it. Whenever he would respond even the simplest “Baaaa” it’s like Yuu knew what he had exactly said.

“Yes I do. Thank you for coming to talk to me that day. I don’t what would have happened if you didn’t.” Baa told Yuu.

“Sooo, Friends?” Yuu asked him while showing the berries he had brought.

Baa-Senpai, after months of finding a friend he later realized his friend was there all along. He was excited to spend high school with his friend Yuu. The thought of being friends with Yuu brought emotion and excitement on him. His face grew into a huge big smile and then replied.
