Thinking of a story where Rose realizes immediately that Shane is gay and theyāve had the talk but continue to hang out and pretend to date
Ilya gets a burner phone so he can call Shane to hear his voice but Shane blocks the number after the 3rd time.
Ilya, having memorized Shaneās number and is sad drinking with Svetlana, steals her phone and calls Shane.
Shane answers like he usually does and yells on the phone, āfucker I swear to god, if I have to change my number because of you, I will find you and kill youā which makes Ilya sigh and Shaneās breath hitch at the sound.
Svetlana asks if heās seen her phone and then scolds him for taking it, all in Russian.
Shane tries to ask if itās Ilya but the phone line went dead too fast
Ilya calls two weeks later with a new burner at All Stars when he knows Shane wonāt answer cause he heard Shane is still in the air. Thatās when he hears it.
āThis is Shane Hollander. Sorry I couldnāt reach my phone, but Iāll call back as soon as possible.ā Thereās a pause. āAnd uh, if this is Lily. Just wait for me. Iāll see you soon.ā Thereās phone beeps and Ilya ends the call immediately.
And then thinking how Shane got to this point of telling Rose that he thinks his hookup is the one calling and she suggests this. One of his teammates telling him in private to change his voicemail cause it comes across as desperate. Another teammate putting him on blast in the locker room. Yuna sending a few texts that say āWHOS LILY?ā āSorry honey, I know you probably want to tell us about her in your own time, but you realize even the brands will find out about Lily.ā
And then when the voicemail is changed, it hits the web about āShane Hollander put his heart on the (phone) lineā and refuses to update the outcome to anyone who asks.
A fic as told by the rookies that Shane billeted throughout the years
They see him smiling while texting and quickly masked his face realizing he wasnāt alone on the couch. Said it was something Hayden sent and he didnāt show him so the rookie texts Hayden (no social awareness) what did he text Shane and Hayden is telling the kid that he didnāt, no really he swears he hasnāt texted Shane all day.
Shane disappearing after the game and only coming back to the house in the middle of the night but only after Boston games
Shane picking up a rookie with his shirt inside out only to leave him at the house and disappear again
Catching Shane looking up something about Rosanov by looking over his shoulder while passing by the couch
A rookie finding a raiders shirt that Shane took back to his houseand Shane having to play it off as a prank that JJ did. (JJ claims no such prank happened)
Not me watching Their Town and immediately thinking of a bike au where Mike moves to Bangor after Bill does (where they forget each other post IT) and they both go out for the play and get the leads but Billās stutter comes back only when he does scenes with Mike

Having not been able to see The Cottage episode yet, Iām thinking of a player being traded from Montreal to Boston making a joke about how Shane Hollander is so competitive in Boston but not for the rivalry but because he wants to impress his girl Lily before heading to hers after the game.
And Marly is just connecting dotsā¦
Iām sure thereās probably a fic or someone thought of this but a fic where Shaneās a ref and Ilya is shamelessly flirting with him during a game which results in him calling harsher calls against Boston cause he doesnāt want to show favouritism
Obviously this follows the book (which I havenāt read) but Miles is right there, behind Shane, watching Ilya making out with a woman as Shane excuses himself.
And Miles doesnāt seem dumb. He just saw Ilya at the bar a moment ago. No woman on his arm, possibly returning a raised eyebrow until he starts scanning the place. So that raises a flag with Miles: did Ilya panic and find a girl right away because Miles sorta hit on him, or did Ilya find a girl after seeing Shane Hollander with Rose
And then when Shane suddenly leaves while Ilya is across the room with someone else, donāt you think Miles wouldāve picked up on it?
I like to think that Miles mentions it to Rose and Rose kinda runs with it cause Shane doesnāt seem that into her and he didnāt complain when Miles was dancing on him soā¦
