Apparently Aztek is alive again. Neat.
-Superman (2023) #36
365 DC Comics Heroes & Villains Paper Cut-Outs
March 14th - Aztek
Two heroes who have battled evil under the mantel of Aztek. The first was a young man known only as ‘Uno.’ This Uno was raised from childhood by a secret organization called the Q Society. The sect honed the youth into becoming their champion and high priest to the benevolent Aztec god of Quetzalcoatl. The society is dedicated to fighting the forces of the evil god Tezcatlipoca.
Uno is bestowed a suit of magical of armor crafted by the Q Society. This armor enables him to manipulated ‘fourth dimensional energies’ which provides flight, super strength, plasma blasts and a host of other capabilities. The suit compliments Uno's peak mental and physical skills making him a highly formidable combatant.
Aztek later joins the Justice League, yet resigns from the League when it is revealed that one of the mysterious benefactors of the Q Society is actually Lex Luthor. He would briefly rejoin the League to help fend off the threat of the planet-destroying machine called Mageddon (which proved to be a manifestation of Tezcatlipoca). The hero sacrificed himself so to allow Superman to destroy this Mageddon.
Following Uno’s death, The Aztek armor sought out a new host to act as the champion of Vanity City. The armor chose a young software engineer named Nayeli Constant. Reluctant at first, Nayeli would eventually accept her role as the heroic Aztek. She went on to have adventures alongside fellow heroes The Ray, Wonder Woman and the Justice League.
The original Aztek first appeared in the pages of Aztek, The Ultimate Man #1 (1996); while Nayeli Constant first appeared in the pages of Justice League of America Vol. 5 #20 (2017).
