stone cold
I lay here stone cold, numb..... Â
on a makeshift sick bed,
in a straight jacket,Â
my most suitable attire,   Â
you straddling my chest,
questioning my wasted years without you, Â
 =
mirror stuck on the ceiling, Â
counting my eyelids shutter,Â
for every day missed,Â
from the tightening grip Â
of your mouth having on my lips, Â
never to entirely kill meÂ
or to let me live in peace. Â
=
it's not dying that I fear, Â
it's seeing the expression on your faceÂ
when I take my last breath Â
as I lay there stone cold, Â
waiting for you, my love to know that Â
to be assertive is to be merciful, Â
like the day you drove your beautiful self to me Â
testing my fortitudeÂ
that's now succumbing at your hands. Â
=
I had faith in you,
I let you in to build a podium for your egoÂ
so one could occupy its size, Â
I've built castles for winter andÂ
tents on the summer coastlinesÂ
while I was looking for shade by an empty lake Â
I've carved a pool in my mind to accommodate Â
dripping saliva from your mouth to top it off..... Â
=
everything smiled the day your mercy touched Â
every scar you burned me with, Â
charred a delicately tattooed me,Â
short of a cure, Â
gazing at your neck & backside
from the mirror's reflection,
wondering how crazy & warm a healingÂ
it would be from the inside.
=Â
you're still straddling my chest Â
cautious about delivering a final blow Â
even though you know that, Â
I'm laying here harmless, Â
paralyzed & stone cold...Â
