He was truly considering his chances for survival right now. Him vs the frozen wilderness. He wondered if he were to make a run for it would he make it? Would he freeze to death first or would the soldiers at Haven track him down and drag him back to the Chantry kicking and screaming? He never meant to leave home for long. This was solely a trip to hear what the humans had to say about their situation, learn what he could, and find out if there was any information that might be helpful to his people in trying to survive whilst being caught in the crossfire of a war.
He never meant to never return. He didn't know whether or not he regretted what he did--mostly cause he didn't even remember what that was. What he did know is that whatever it was it was hard to forgive because now he was being held prisoner by these humans who all thought he was some prophet. He wasn't a person to them, just a symbol for them to cling onto in their desperation. Why couldn't they see that?
Whether or not he would make it home or not, he'd already put together a few things that he thought might help him along the way. They were all packed up--he just actually had to do it. Leave. Run away. Run as fast as he possibly could and hope he made it far enough to have disappeared without a trace.
He'd been staring at the door outside for what felt like hours. He was wasting time. And yet, no matter how much he told himself to get up and open the door he couldn't. He was just sitting on the bed, one knee bouncing up and down nervously while his hands ran through his curls. He was so stressed, he hated this. In one hand he felt like he was within his right to leave, but in the other it felt horribly wrong. Like he was abandoning these people. They weren't even his people. Why did he care? The young elf was in his own little world, overthinking and playing out all the ways his plan could go horribly wrong when a knock at the door nearly caused him to jump out of his skin. Without a second thought he reached for the packed back and tried to conceal it underneath the bed before hurrying to answer the door.
