Often, the Ayahuasca experience places drinkers in situations in which they feel that their individual identity is in jeopardy.  They may try to dismiss the experience as unreal, as mere hallucination.  The problem with this strategy is twofold.  First, there is no guarantee that the drinker would be able to convince himself of the unreality of the experience.  In this case, the experience is likely to be more, not less, frightening.  Alternately, the drinker may succeed in self-suggestion but then the experience will be lost.  As several fellow travelers on this path have told me, the only viable option is to let go- suspend judgement and enter.  Then one is more likely to have a meaningful experience.
