i live in a super tiny town and there are no protests where i am :( what’s some things i could do? 🧡
What’s important to remember is that protesting isn’t the only thing you can do. You’re off to a good start by wanting to help.
For one, if you aren’t black, you can educate yourself. Don’t just go to the nearest black person and ask, not their job. Do the research for yourself. A good resource I recently gave out to some of my friends is this google drive of black literature.
Another way is I have reblogged many ways to support, look through those. There are many knowledgeable resources, donation links, bail numbers, etc etc. Spread that news. Spread that awareness. More people to see it. This is not performative but a spread of information.
Know your rights. Super duper important, especially if you wanna try activism. I know that personally, things I plan to do, will put a target on my head--considering I live in the bible belt. Take precautions.
Be aware of the things you say. Words are vital. They can change the world. Change your language if you need to.
Also, just be aware of the black community and the issues we face. There are many things that are more than just police on black violence.
Know that we are living in the midst of a revolution and we will not stop to change comes.
This may seem overwhelming but, you’re taking a step in the right direction by trying to help. I say educate yourself first and foremost. You have no idea what a powerful weapon knowledge is.
Now let me stop sounding like a revolutionary. Also, as an immunocompromised woman, I can’t go to the protests. So, I feel your pain.
