Yesterday I briefly let my brother try the Kalthoff axe. I had no plan for the films, but I post them to show the size and the sharpness. The wood is pine (the good stuff, from the roof beams of a 300 year old church) and some dry birch. Well, it's #swedishsteelsaturday today, and I have time to post these new babies. 3 #säter axes, and on top a #mustad What's the connection? Mustad bought Säter yxfabrik in 1965 for the purpose to produce these very axes, that where called Säterpilen. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. The hat is made by @p_van_alden the bowl by @ingmaraldenhov and the axe... the axe is by Bodin, some time between 1889-1962. This one is a Laftebile from Tinn in Telemark, southeast Norway. These are the last 4 I finished before the makers market today. the first and the last are Mustad, the first one is actually a NOS, except I oiled the handle and buffed off som rust from storage. The overstrike guard on the no name splitter isn't fitted yet, and the swedish carpenters axe is also no name, but those almost always are...
