The dog upstairs won’t shut up but I can’t hate him. He’s up there, alone, all day. Making noise must be the only way he knows he’s not a ghost.

AWP 2016, Los Angeles (Photo: Sandy Ebner)
Two weeks ago I spent three days in Los Angeles, at AWP, the yearly convention held by the Association of Writers & Writer’s Programs. Held in a different city each year, AWP is an opportunity for writers to step away from our laptops, if only for a short while, and to bond with other writers, hopefully learning a few things in the process. A Victory For Peanut Butter Bacon Burgers
A Victory For Peanut Butter Bacon Burgers
Some friends and I were going to get lunch during one of the days at AWP 2016 and we weren’t too picky on the place. LA Metro Could Have Made That Less Confusing
LA Metro Could Have Made That Less Confusing
I feel a bit whiny complaining about any kind of travel confusion relating to AWP considering that I have multiple friends who may still not have made it home due to flight cancellations, but I’ll go ahead anyway. LA Metro: you could have made that less confusing. I decided to get to and from LAX for AWP via the trains. My wife found a site that had really good directions and was comically…

This year's AWP Bookfair & Conference was held in sunny Los Angeles, which was a blessed relief during a weekend when the Northeast was being hit with hail, chills, and all those other charming late March by-products. There were a record total…

was awesome.
Immensely grateful for being part of BOAAT + Diode + Quarterly West's stellar reading at La Cita Bar. There was sushi & cake, there was tequila & Tecate, there were new friends & old friends, & there were so many good words.
