Hello! I'm farily new to tumblr - though I've been obsessed with Illithids for MANY years ^^ Hope you don't mind a rando coming out of the woodwork. Do you have any fave fanfics? Either The Emperor or any other illithid chars
I don't mind at all! In fact, I think it would be much more interesting to hear from you rather than me! BG3 introduced me to DnD in general and also mind flayers so I'm relatively new. Due to my tendency to hyperfixate and consume content on my obsessions I then went into a deep dive on illithids in general and watched so much stuff!
My favorite was finding content about them way before BG3 on old forums and Reddit threads. So I would love to hear more about their wider perception in the DnD fandom, illithid fan content over the years, etc.! Just thinking about it is so cool. Especially because I am super into retro fandom stuff (like finding fansites or old fanfiction from the 90s that somehow still exist--it's like finding a gold mine).
I have read a lot of really good fanfiction about Emperor! There isn't a lot but that also kinda means the little that there is tends to be quality and isn't diluted by popularity. It would be too difficult for me to track all of my favorites down but go-to works that I read over and over again are by escolarbun.
