It’s too late. Marji rips the glowing blue gem out of the rock and has it in hand. She jumps back and crouches, waiting for something to happen. A few seconds later they are both very much alive.

“You worry too much, A’vlan. If there was danger we would have felt it.” She says, winking over at you as she starts to put the gem away. “We can get a nice price with this once we’re-”

A low rumble shakes the ground. It stops. You look up to tell her it’s time to go, or should it be ‘I told you so?’

The ‘rock’ she pulled the gem out of turns out to be a long outdated golem punting Marji out of her shoes, sending her straight below the pools of water behind you. Surprisingly she surfaces with bounty in hand, though that’s the least of your worries as the monster turns its sights towards you.
