OH BOY WE DID IT!

So I’ve been super quiet here on the ol tumbl for the the past couple of months cause I’ve been working super hard on finishing up AVIP with @son-mess !

We just got the hard copy proofs and they look fantastic! The full order gets here tomorrow and then we’ll be in the final stretch for our kickstarter!!!

CONCEPT ART TEASER!!!

A Vampire in Paris is the story about mythical creatures, growing pains and and silly antics that end in a budding romance. To understand how colorful the world of AVIP is, we only need to take a look at the cast!

Kara Belmont is an Art History student by day and a bartender at the Spade by night. She comes from a long line of Vampire Hunters (or so her grandfather used to tell her) & has a blossoming crush on her mysterious and beautiful coworker. She's clever too. 

Selma Nazari is a young vampire, having turned during a harsh and difficult point of her life. She's rather relaxed about her vampiric disposition and draws a lot of humor in being Muslim, as the Catholic approach to vampires does little to effect her. Loves old video games.

Levitika Bellamy is Selma's closest friend. A beautiful singer who spends her nights working as a waitress at the Spade, along side her vampiric friend. Her hobbies include controlling the bar's playlist and rejecting men. She has a soft spot for a certain patron. 

Odd Smith (a name his family took when they immigrated to America so long ago and has stuck around) is a frequent patron at the Spade. He's cunning, with a dashing smile and often teases the staff. He knows his way around The Seine (a river in Paris) and gives tours.

Some other characters include: an aged werewolf who guides Selma through her change, a djinn who enjoys watching life go by but finds himself unable to resist participating, and a wise vampire hunter who teaches that to grieve is not to end your love for someone.

The Spade is full of mysterious patrons and Kara, through due diligence, works hard to learn about each one. If you enjoyed the cast, consider supporting the queer love story of Kara and Selma on [ KickStarter ]

Let's get to 100% before time runs out! If we don't, Kara might permanently have the wrong impressions of what it means to be a vampire!

I saw on a reply that someone was wondering why we called AVIP a “queer” instead of a lesbian love story. I wanted to take the time to explain why we chose the term queer.

We chose the word queer as we follow the LGBTQA+’s movement to reclaim the word as a blanket term. Queer is becoming/or is considered a word that can unite us rather than harm us.

Second, Kara Belmont mirrors my own history of being a queer woman, in that she identifies as bisexual. Therefore it would be inaccurate to call AVIP a lesbian love story as only one person (vampire) of the main couple is a lesbian.

There are also other characters with varying sexualities and identities that would be done a disservice if ignored. That’s why we chose the term queer.
