Stars & Mistletoes (Lace x Nevra) - Secret Santa
Hi Avinox. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. And I hope you like my gift for you :3 <3
Lace was resting in the warmth of her bed, reading one of the books about Astronomy that she borrowed from Ykhar. It was night and she loved it, what with the stars shining outside, the crickets singing, the wind blowing gently through the open window, despite the cold.
As she was about to turn the page, to a topic she loved the most, a sudden knock on her door interrupted her.
“Who is it?“
“It’s-a me, Nevra!“ The voice sounded from the other side of the door, making a loud snort come out of Lace’s nose. She had to laugh for a whole minute, before answering.
“C-come in!“ she said, still trying to catch her breath. “I see I’ve infected you with Earth references a bit too much?“
“Don’t talk about it.“ Nevra smirked as he entered the room. “What are you doing?“
“Well, I WAS reading this amazing book, Ykhar lent me.“
“Is it about Astronomy, or is it about Astronomy?“ The vampire mocked her. “No, no, wait! It’s about Astronomy!“
“I’m not throwing the book straight at your face because I respect it!“ She growled, throwing her pillow, instead. “But anyways. Was there another reason for my ‘Sweet Tooth’ to come visit me, or is he here just to mock me and show me he has learnt something from my ‘Earthly’ references?“
Nevra had to put a hand on his mouth to stop the giggles from coming out. Then, he cleared his throat and showed her what seemed to look like a picnic basket.
“I just thought I could take my beautiful ‘Snowflake’ out on a Christmas date by the beach.“
Lace had to look him in the eyes, trying to find a single sign of another mock, only to realize he was serious about it.
“Do you realize how cold it is outside? It’s practically freezing.“
“Coming from the girl who has her window open, I don’t see what’s wrong. Also, I have some tricks up my sleeves - or, well, pants - in case you’re feeling cold.“
“I don’t know...“ the snow white haired girl scratched her neck.
“Come on!“ The vampire cried, making his puppy eyes, the ones she could never resist.
Lance sighed, then groaned, replying:
“Fine, I’ll go! But if I catch a cold, you’ll be held responsible!“
“Fine by me.“ He jumped, pick up his girlfriend. “You’re gonna love it!“
And so they went to the beach. It was really calm there. But Lace’s fears became true, the moment her feet touched the ground.
“For the Oracle’s sake, Nevra, I told you this wasn’t a good idea. I’m already freezing.“
But he didn’t seem to pay attention to her complaints. He just grabbed her wrist and continued to walk through the cold beach.
“W-wait!“ The slightly taller girl protested. “Where are we going?“
Finally, after a few minutes going straight, Nevra stopped. Lace stopped behind him and, as she was stretching her body, when she looked at what was in front of her, she let out a small gasp.
“Nevra... What is this place?“
“I figured you’d like to spend Christmas in a prettier place. So I’ve been making this just for you.“
Her purple eyes widened, as she let a quiet ‘oh’. She had wondered where Nevra had been the past days, and why he sometimes seemed to ignore her. He had been spending his time working on something for her. She loved his intentions, but something felt odd about the little cave he was showing.
“Sweet Tooth, I love that you made me something, but...“
“Oh, I haven’t shown you everything. Come on, enter the cave.“
She frowned a bit, but entered, nonetheless.
“Now...“ Nevra requested ”... Close your eyes.“
As she obeyed, she heard something move.
“N-Nevra? Wh-what are you doing?“
“Calm down.“ He answered while grabbing her hand, a tone of slight excitement in his voice. “You can now open them!“
Lace slowly opened her shiny purple eyes, looking up and almost crying. She put her hands on her mouth as she let out a loud gasp. The sky was pure black, with tiny dots shining all over it. She slowly sat down on the sand, never taking her eyes off of the view, almost as if they were glued to it.
“So, do you like it?“ Nevra asked as he sat down beside her, covering her with a blanket.
“I love it...“ She responded in a whisper, knowing that she’d cry if she tried to speak any louder.
They remained silent for a while, Lace appreciating the stars, and Nevra simply looking at his angel’s face in the night. Then, he slowly moved his hand, placing it on top of hers, making her snap out of her thoughts.
“Yes, Nevra?“
No answer came out of him, as he slowly approached her face. Their lips connected like two magnets, allowing them to share a sweet, warm, passionate kiss.
Suddenly, Lace felt Nevra’s hand going up to her body. What was he thinking? She had told him many times not to do it.
“Nevra! What do you think you’re-“
“This.“ He interrupted, softly moving his fingers, making the half-human shiver in laughter. He wasn’t going to do anything she didn’t want. He just tricked her into a tickling fight. Loud laughs echoed through the cave and the beach, as she struggled to breathe, thears of laughter escaping the corners of her eyes.
“N-Nevra, p-please, hahahah, you’re going to k-kill me!“
And he did stop, laying beside the tired woman.
“I... hate you... so much...“ She panted.
“I love you too. AND, I have another surprise for you.“
“NO more tickles!“
But the vampire just pointed his finger at a small plant above thier heads.
“A mistletoe? Cliche much?“ She chuckled.
“Maybe. But I get a bit cliche with you.“
Lace laughed at his remark. It is true. He was a bit cliche around her, sometimes. And she loved that about him.
“Ok. But just one kiss. I want to watch the stars.“
“With the brightest star right in front of you, you still want to look up to the sky?“ He faked sadness, adding drama to his words.
“Shut up.“ She rolled her eyes, kissing him.
They would later remember that Christmas night as one of the best they had ever celebrated, even with many more to come in the Future.
