Oh look, it’s my first concept art of Smii7y for a fic I’m writing. Wish me luck that I actually make it to chapter 1. For those interested, I’ll be reblogging the first chapter here... soon.
Here's my latest Sheith fic, an entry for the @ficwip event, Hey, Sweetheart! This is my fifth time participating and it's one of my favorite writing events of the year.
Summary:
Inspired by the following tweet from the ShirosMarrying Twitter account: Today Shiro married Keith. They had been waiting for the political situation to stabilize, but when Kolivan brought a seriously injured Keith back from a mission, Shiro insisted Kolivan lead a nuptial rite in Keith’s hospital room with Krolia and the paladins to witness.
And here begins my efforts to update/finish as many WIPs as I can this summer! A new chapter in my Sheith-as-teachers AU, "Give me a Sign": Shiro is the new science teacher, still dealing with some culture shock in adjusting to a school four times the size of his previous one. At graduation, he's still meeting other teachers for the first time, including his first look at one of the ASL interpreters.
Let me share my latest commission for one of my fanfics! I asked Reyvest_art to do this proposal scene from my Sheith in Summer 2023 series, "A Summer Overflowing With Love". This happens at the end of the fourth chapter! Rey was wonderful to work with, sharing every step of the way. I think she still has commissions open, with prices way too reasonable for the quality you get. Go and get some art!

End of an Era
I have made the decision to end my biggest Potter fic, "The Perils of Innocence", where it is and not continue it. Even as recently as this spring, I was messing with the next chapter and trying to find the motivation to keep going, because I have a thing about not abandoning stories even as my WIP pile grows. But several factors have gradually come together to make me realize that it's in my best creative interests to leave it where it is, at a hopeful point, and free up my imagination for other fandoms. One thing for those who will not bother to keep reading: I do NOT give my permission to anyone to feed my fic into any form of LLM or generative AI to try and fake an ending. if you wish to write your own ending because my story inspired you, that I wholeheartedly encourage and only ask that you give credit/link back to my fic.
These are the main reasons that this fic no longer sparks joy for me:
(1) Of course the TERF queen, JKR, is the biggest factor. Even though I am very grateful to the fandom for the friends I made and the joy reading/writing HP fic brought me, it is clear that anyone who believes in and supports trans rights needs to cut HP out of their wallets at the very least and try to cut it out of their lives as much as possible. Even though fanmade merch and fanfic do not give money towards Rowling's efforts to eliminate trans people from the world, fan activities continue to give power to Harry Potter as a pop culture phenomenon and keep it in the conversations about the entertainment industry as a whole. (2) I have found other fandoms. I've spent the last several years deep in the Voltron fandom and would like to focus my writing in finishing a large number of WIPs there. I would also like to play in other fandoms that have caught my attention. Putting Perils away gives me more mental room (3) Sadly, I'm not comfortable with parts of the current Harry/Hermione fandom. While I certainly gave a great deal of my time in the past to arguing why I thought H/Hr would be canon and then why I thought H/Hr should have been canon, I never had to deal with anything beyond a few DMs on a forum calling me stupid (and then, of course, "delusional" - and no, I haven't forgiven Melissa or Emerson for their antics). Today, fandom as a whole is infected with a radfem rhetoric so convoluted that it's indistinguishable from MAGA talking points, aka anti-shippers. It is not a good place to be unless one mutes and blocks constantly and limits interactions to a smaller circle of trusted friends. The understood rules of "Ship and let ship" and KINKTOMATO are ignored because too many people are equating fictional tastes with real-life morals and think they have a right to harass others for not conforming to their individual standards. I joined a Discord for Harry/Hermione shippers a few years ago, pleased to see that the energy was still there and happy to share some history of the ship. However, over time I started seeing anti behaviors in the conversations. Back in the day on Fiction Alley, there were message board forums for every single ship one could think of, including Weasleycest, teacher-student, and the Giant Squid. People understood it was all in good fun and while debate over ships was allowed, it was heavily moderated. But some people in this Discord were slamming ships left and right, and not on the basis of what made sense canon or character-wise. Any ship including a Slytherin was suddenly bad, age gaps were not approved, and you had to tiptoe through conversations about the race of various characters, canon or fanon. In short, it's not as fun as it used to be. I am gratified that so many people enjoyed "The Perils of Innocence", that people re-read it and shared it and took the time to say they liked it. I'm still awed that it has over 2.5 million views and 10K followers on FFN since I started posting it in 2012. But for the reasons above, it's time to close this chapter in my fandom. If you see me writing for a fandom that you enjoy, I hope you take a look and are entertained.

Finally finished my entry for this year's "Hey Sweetheart" event on @ficwip, doubling as my 2024 Sheith wedding fic. I'll do the pretty banner later.

This is from the next installment of my Shiro's Marrying Fics series, inspired by entries from the Twitter account. Provided I finish in time, it'll be posted on December 14.
It's also seven sentences because context.
Keith was only holding it together because both Pidge and Blade Virlun had insisted that this was the last group of well-wishers and it would all be over soon. Pidge might have fudged the truth to make sure he would stick it out, but Virlun would not lie to his commanding officer.
His nose was overwhelmed with the scents of so many different flowers, some of which had stenches that turned his stomach. He had a pounding headache from the constant noise around him, chatter among the guests and ushers in a multitude of languages. The only thing keeping him in place, offering the tiniest smiles so they wouldn’t turn into grimaces and responding to every guest, was the promise of a varga alone with Shiro, his mother, and Sam. The time was officially set up as a lesson, with Sam and Krolia as the grooms’ elders dispensing their wisdom before the couple said their vows. In fact, Krolia had assured them that it would be a time of quiet meditation, giving Keith and Shiro a chance to recover before the ceremony took place.
