@averageismsā submitted: There wasnāt a knock āpon entering his office, Ā attention drawn towards her hands that fiddled with the leather strap of her bag. Ā Ā āā Ā You know, when one says that they want to go out on a date, Ā they usually make plans, Ā so thatās whatāā Ā āā Ā Ā Ā she stopped in the middle of her tracks, Ā eyes widening slightly seeing Roy on the floor, Ā gloves beside him Ā ; Ā she was in front of him almost instantly Ā ; Ā hesitant to reach out and touch, Ā to comfort even though she didnāt know what was wrong. Ā
ā Ā R ā Roy  ⦠ Roy, Ā whatās wrong? Ā What happened? Ā ā Ā the tips of her fingers placed on his knee hesitantly, Ā trying to draw him back into reality but hoping not to make things worse.
[ Point of reference: here ]
Roy didnāt count the time that passed between when he last heard Hughesās voice and when Artemis came into his office. How did she get in? Right, he hadnāt locked it yet. Instead of going home when he first started feeling a wave of depression, he sat on the floor as a means to ground himself. The floor was solid, and so was the wall. They were hard surfaces he could feel.
At first, her voice wasnāt enough to stir him from reality. The tears stopped a while ago, leaving his face a blotchy red mess that didnāt suit a colonel. Her footsteps towards him made him realize someone else was in the room. They were too light to be the ones that belonged to the voice he heard earlier. He only looked up when she got close, fingertips on his knee.
If he looked horrible, she didnāt tell him. Though, he had no doubt in his mind that he did. He moved his arms away from holding his legs, one hand reaching over to pocket his gloves. Leaving them out, even in his own office, would be far too dangerous. Once he had them secure, he offered her a small, weak smile.
āIām fine,ā he murmured, āReally. Just a long day---thatās all.ā Was he at least somewhat convincing? He could only hope so. āYou came all this way to see me?ā
