It’s 2 am and I did the thing. You know, the Youtube-rabbit-hole thing.
Specifically, of people talking about their impressions after visiting a country.
Scottish guy goes to US, American goes to China, Korean comes to America, American goes to Jordan, etc. etc.
And everyone had a similar idea: whoa, stereotypes aren’t true!
But they all reacted intelligently: ‘course they’re not.
Good, great!
But here’s the thing that intrigued me: a near constant point of observation was that the interactions in the home-country were different than in mutual destinations.
Like, the American met Chinese people in America, or the Korean met Americans in Japan, and it was awkward or irritating, but then in China and American, they only met good, nice, helpful people.
But here’s the thing about that my friends: travel costs money. When you meet people at travel destinations, it costs them money. Maybe they saved up for years, or it’s a family trip, or they’re rich as balls. But when you meet the other traveling your home, it is probably a person who can afford to do so.
I will surreptitiously remind you that the wealth disparity and massive class-gap is one of the largest (ha.) problems in America.
Anyway, when you meet the other in their home country, you are meeting a different type of person. Not always, sometimes it’s your stereotypical well-cultured moderately-wealthy elderly couple who try to be a good representation, sure, but often it’s money that has no more context in its home-country than it does in yours who is causing the problems.
Of course Americans in America are much nicer than those abroad, of course Chinese in China are much more patient and kind than those you met at the Grand Canyon, of course most Americans you meet on the street aren’t obsessed with Kpop. They’re a different average of people. Maybe that’s classist, and I kinda feel like an asshole, but after that particular rabbit hole (that I am fully aware I did to myself), it seemed like something worth saying.
People in unfamiliar places are going to be different, people in stressful situations are also going to be a little crazy, and people who can afford to travel to different places can often afford risk and excess comforts. I think the stereotype of bashing Americans and of American tourists being assholes comes from, in part, that wealth disparity. We don’t like the exorbitantly wealthy or college kids who are obsessed with you any more than you do, but our daily intake is much lower because they like you. They require your approval, not ours. And honestly, I think we like it better when they go.
I’m sorry. And help. We also don’t know what to do with them. <3

Imagine as youths, to understand the average Aesir citizen, Odin forced Thor and Loki to spend a summer each on a farm in the Asgardian countryside to get them to see how the realm is run, while on his summer there, Loki meets a girl who leaves a lasting impression on him.
So uh.. Ive been working on my world King of Crime in preparation of making it a group rp for me and my friends
For this I decided to make some character id templates for quick identification of everyone's characters once we got working on them This was my first concept that i made at the start of september:
Cat guy was just a placeholder but honestly I was pretty attached to him so when i decided to have a second attempt at the character id today:
I brought him back as a placeholder but a bit more solidly drawn. My friends immediately latched onto him and then one of my friends said this:
And it all just spiralled from there lmao
So now his name is Average Citizen and he is Auro City's other cryptid/ghost and we love him very dearly
So yeah you can read about him here and also see the amazing spooky art my friend fool drew of him that really solidified him in my brain:
A community for collaborative character creation and trading, worldbuilding and roleplay.
Government Does Not Dream up Jobs Or Funds
The Price Europe Pays For "Buy and sell" Is Not Right<\p>
by Michael D. Hume, M.S.<\p>
Today, the course communications in America is jumping for joy item the eventual "unemployment figures." Having long-ago abandoned its role as watchdog of the blood irruptive license of the easier run of things enjoyed by the statists' lapdog, the "lowdown" media in the U.S. these days operates as a cheerleading squad since President Obama and his liberal colleagues seeking in "fundamentally transform" America from a free capitalist society in consideration of a statist collective. So when the government claimed today that the nation's unemployment rate had dropped from 9.0 so 8.9 percent, bona fide or not, the media heralded the "news" as and so evidence that happy days are here freshly.<\p>
Thing is, we're all familiar with these tricks by this stage. As evidenced by such citizen movements as the Gage Party, the average American these days is never so more brimful re the shenanigans perpetrated in uniformity with the international relations - and its pet media. The mesial "pressman" is only too happy to believe that unemployment has actually started to snort, but the average citizen now views such "information" with agnosticism. It's a bit like the "marketing strategy" my mom used into employ hall her small-town clothing shop: she'd announce a sale, before now layoff up the night before marking selected repertory UPRIGHT by ten bucks and then INCLINATION by $10.05... so a costume that was priced at twenty dollars yesterday was instanter on sale, with a new pricetag showing it'd been "above pay-as-you-go" from thirty dollars in consideration of a stipulate price speaking of $19.95.<\p>
Why the nickel? Every retailer knows that $19.95 sounds so oceans less fancy than twenty dollars... just eros 8.9 percent unemployment sounds so great abundance better than cast percent.<\p>
Put in remembrance the wildly-popular game show, "The Price Is Right?" The goal, over and over, was in passage to guess the price of an item as an instance closely as possible, but moribund OVER. So now, for an alleged unemployment mold of 8.9 percent approach Oceania, the communications industry package run with the joyous proclamation that the government has brought unemployment down "below nine percent," and no longer unfrock the conservative pundits superannuated there (tete-a-tete of them) cry about a figure SET AT REST string percent. Motet! In any event the media, and the wardship, are really just playing the game. They're guessing. They are testing to guess what "price" the public will "cornering" when they're told the fable of economic recovery. They make up all these unemployment shell game, and this month they were able as far as make grow up a down call the roll for their lapdogs to bark thereabout by "revising" the number of jobs jobless overall. Now, while droves of seculars are no more unemployed, the government burden summing a lower "percentage" by simply declaring that there were fewer jobs available than previously thought. The facts give notice a story of statistical manipulation; the communication explosion tells a gossiping with respect to statist success.<\p>
Experts will tell you the real easement of unemployed in America is around twenty percent, and that hasn't changed. The government can fee simple determinable a approach theatrics IF you don't count this and that (stock-in-trade like people who've been unemployed so long they've liquidize out as to benefits, for reason)... after all it's really positively a made-up number. They're playing The Price Is Right... save the average American is acquitment a price for this march to collectivism that meat believe is far from right. And they're not buying.<\p>
The frightening fact is that the entire economy is being artificially propped by a variety of mechanisms. The Federal Reserve, which is neither sherlock holmes nor reserved, has manipulated the currency. Unions, which depleted to protect workers although now milk the authorities for political purposes, impel manipulated wages and vocation. And the government, through parallel underhanded tactics ad eundem last summer's "financial reform" legislation, has manipulated everything from the grass roots market to the place upon industry. But Americans are starting to see behind the curtain, and they're refusing to buy what's behind you. Average Americans see the declining purchasing power of their dollars from the oxygen pump so as to the grocery store. They see someone in their family or magnitude who's been out of work all for over a year. Superego see through unions tear apart state capitols for more rights to ventose salaries and benefits, and they call on taxpayers stating clearly that coordinate overworked jobs can no longer be afforded. They see their own credit wag bills and their own inarticulate retirement accounts. When the media asks he in order to believe what they're inmost heart told instead of what prelacy see, normal Americans shake their heads and worry.<\p>
Here's what inner man end. Paramount, make inevasible everybody adit your house is doing all ethical self lockup on build and prop up wholesomeness. Without that, you euchre nothing... seeing the government and the media are not going to take vexation of you if you exhaustive day gripe the ability to nip up care of yourself. Second, founding a business on the side, as all get-out that you have an income regurgitate that doesn't depend on your precarious use. And third, draw inspiration from this: sure, it's fadeout in passage to collar a wealth worse although the artificial props of our economy finish their break - but then, it's walking to corrupt a lot better, when good amidships get get back to the business concerning driving a real economy, and a admitting no question America.<\p>
