THE STRANGE DEVICE THAT HE HAS KEPT tucked safely away inside his tailcoat lights up with a furious level of sound that Sebastian cannot possibly ignore it; he withdraws it, if only to watch whatever scene is apparently taking place. For such a small apparatus, it depicts the event at hand with great detail. He’s not far from the location of the hole, and ventures in the direction of it while holding out the phone with a slight, bemused smile upon his lips.
His existence, at stake? A thought worth little more than a chuckle, less amused and more ridiculing. What, after all, could be capable of truly destroying a demon? Conflicting, however, is the ever-present, ever-pressing fact that they’ve reduced him to little more than a human in capability, and with no discernible influence that he can detect. He’s not the sort to worry -- more to express anger, if he could truly feel something at having been slighted so -- but he does wonder what indeed they are capable of doing.
Within a few minutes, he’s reached the massive hole that seems to have infatuated many. The mysterious girl still awaits overhead, of course. Tempting as it is for whatever indiscernible reason to gaze within, his attention flicks elsewhere for a moment -- to one of the remaining individuals also still standing nearby, a young lady shrouded in black. Sebastian would not care, doesn’t under any other circumstances observe except to keep watch of others, but there is something about the look upon her face as she too looks forth into the chasm; when her focused attention breaks and they meet eyes for but a moment, there is but a glimmer of something darker behind those eyes that is most definitely of interest to him. Whatever it is compels him to drop the facade of ‘butler,’ if only for a brief period.
<<It seems I’m not the only one left standing here alone on the edge of the abyss.>> A truth, in that most of the others who had been depicted on the mysterious device seem to have long since left. <<I wonder what, if anything, they tell us is true. Will we be erased from existence by the hands of some unseen force? I would almost relish the opportunity to see them try.>> The words only have a bemused lilt to them, no trace of fear or the like.
Whatever hint of the demonic that arises fades as quickly as it appears. It’s just his usual slight, neutral smile that remains. <<But I suppose we should behave and follow the rules of the game for now, as is proper. And I do believe it requires at least two to play, so to speak. Should you happen to be interested... miss.>>
