(Note: For this AU- one of them is the Avatar, but I listed them as their starting element- have fun guessing who it is)
(Also, don’t mind if it doesn’t make sense cause im,,, sleep)
Water:
Jon, Brock, Tyler
Del and Tyler both came from the Southern tribe and were both raised up as warriors but Tyler ended up running away. Jon stayed until he was offered a chance to see the world when he met a traveling firebender (Luke).
Brock was raised in the Northern tribe. While his family wanted him to learn to fight and defend his home, he didn’t enjoy the idea- going as far to disown the fact his family had a long line of fighters. So, he took up healing instead and learned from the best! He decided that the tribe had enough healers so he decided to move away to the Earth kingdoms to help there.
Air:
Jaren, Anthony, Lui
Anthony was from the Northern air temple, where he’s wandered around the Earth kingdom tons of times and prides himself in having friends all throughout the nation.
Lui and Jaren grew up at the southern air temple, where they had a lot more fun then just mindless wandering. They learned to go with the flow and enjoy humor and fun! Plus, they both were top of their classes when they did learn from the monks (how they became fast friends).
Fire:
Luke, Evan, Marcel, Brian
Brian and Marcel grew up in Capital city. Both were born into more noble families and kind of had a strict up bringing. They became friends through business and school, and they ended up staying close enough to join the military together (only for an excuse to travel the world).
Evan didn’t grow up in the fire nation! He actually grew up in Ba Sing Se. He was meant to keep the fact he could fire bend a secret, but, yknow, one accident leads to a bunch of small accidental arson charges. Whoops.
Luke wasn’t raised in the fire nation either! He actually was raised as a wanderer, going from place to place but never staying. He was alowed to practice his bending freely (usually) and he kept traveling even as an adult!
Earth:
Ryan, John, Scotty, David
Ryan was raised in Ba Sing Se, having lived in the upper class areas of the city despite not entirely liking it. So, he would frequently wander to the lower areas where he met David (though he eventually left him behind in order to travel with Luke). David was happy with what he had and always enjoyed the company Ryan gave, and was pretty sad when he lost it.
John was raised in Omashu, having a,,, pretty normal childhood? He learned how to bend and he had fun with friends. He never really left without a reason, and he wasn’t fond of new people.
Scotty’s the first in line for the throne, being the Prince of Omashu! He,, doesn’t like it. Not a fan at all, so he’s always looking for an excuse out of the city to leave it behind for someone much more worthy of the role.

An AU where a bunch of snases turn into mythical creatures, Blue is a siren:) I can’t draw mythical creatures as you can see. I also keep changing my damn artstyle—
,, even more avatar au-- out of context of course:
"You're a water bender!" Anthony exclaimed, grabbing Tyler's arm tightly. "I- I thought you said you-"
"Sh!" Tyler covered his mouth and then sighed. "I can't believe you found out."
Anthony was awestruck but also completely confused by the words. Who wouldn't want to know that their best friend can actually bend?
His smile softened and he lessened his grip on the arm. "Ty," he spoke slow, "you're ashamed of it, aren't you?"
Tyler didn't answer at first. Instead, he looked away and frowned.
"It's not that- or not just that," he answered, calmly but his brows furrowed. "You just... You're an airbender," he reminded, "and... You guys aren't supposed to be near the Water Tribes or people in them."
Anthony tilted his head. "But you're not in it," he pondered out, "you're technically on Earth Kingdom territory."
He grinned and Tyler met his eyes with genuine surprise written in them. But, then he matched his grin and laughed softly.
"Okay, dumb dumb. Its noted. Now, let's get going. It's gonna be hard tracking the Avatar."
"You are so fucking stupid!" Luke yelled, glaring daggers towards Ryan who just laughed and grinned.
"And you're much better?" He asked, snickering before his smile dropped. "You're the reason this all failed- you- you're the reason Del isn't here!"
The walls cracked and Luke seemed to understand quickly that the situation wasn't in his favor.
Yet, he continued to shout. "Del left because he didn't want you to hurt him!"
Ryan stopped moving, his breath hitching before he shook his head. "Urk!" He grunted as he bought his hands up and pulled down, making the beams that were standing fall and land down near Luke.
"You lied to him!" he cried.
Luke barely evaded the attack, but he was immediately caught as rock engulfed his legs.
He growled and let fire fill his fist as he blasted it on the rock until he was free. "I told him what you couldn't!" he defended, "you lied to us- you said you were on our side!"
He was trapped again by the legs, this time tighter and definitely with more support.
A blast of fire shot towards Ryan in panic and he raised a wall to block it before shooting the wall back. "I am on your side!" he screamed.
Luke flinched, preparing for impact, but... Nothing came. He peaked an eye open and the wall stood barely ahead of him, before it returned to the ground.
It revealed Ryan to Luke.
He had fallen to his knees, face in his hands and the eye mask on his head. He was hurting. And, Luke was a little more aware as to why.
(Note: this is probably gonna be the shortest one of all the snippets)
It was tense around the table, Brock avoiding eye contact with his father in particular as he sipped tea.
“I saw the masters training their students,” he commented as he put the cup down.
Brock’s eyes narrowed as he focused on the cup, using it as a distraction for his anger. “And?” he asked, not meaning to sound so annoyed, but this was the fifth time in the last three days it was brought up.
“Have you considered finally joining them?” he asked.
“For the last time-” his voice was rising but he was cut off by his mother placing her hand on his shoulder.
They made eye contact and Brock relaxed a bit, though he still had a lot he wanted to say.
“Honey,” she spoke softly, “Me and your father just think it’s in your best interest to do something productive with your gift.”
Brock’s eyes rolled and he shrugged her hand off of his shoulder. “You’re not thinking that,” he argued, bringing his hand up to stir his tea a bit, a motion to calm him with his bending. He circled the brim of the cup with a finger and sighed. “You both just want me to continue the family’s history.”
His mother went to argue, but his father answered first. “You’re absolutely right. Which, means you understand why it’s important,” he stated, glaring a little. “Family is everything to us- to our tribe. Tradition is worth even more.”
“But I don’t want to hurt people,” he stated, harshly. “Why can’t you both understand that?” he asked, finally looking up to meet his dad’s glare. Before it could further on, however, he breathed out calmly and stood up.
“Brock,” his mother urged, trying to get him back.
“I’m going out,” he mumbled, waving over his shoulder before he was gone.

(Note: Jon,,, the most excited boy,,, light of my life,,,)
Jon huffed, watching in amusement as he brought his hand up and froze his sparring partner in place.
“Excellent work, Jonathan,” the group leader commented, making him smile wider and nod his head as a form of thanks- too tired to actually muster his usual excited words.
Then, he turned to look at his partner again, bringing his hand up and down again, watching the ice return to the state of water.
“Man, I can’t believe you got me again,” he groaned, retreating away to join the others that Jon had beat today.
“Everyone, take a break,” the leader called out, waving a hand in the air before he turned to address Jon, tone lowering some. “I’d like to have a word with you, Jonathan.”
Jonathan raised a brow and nodded again, following as he was leaded a bit away from the group.
The leader allowed him to catch his breath, gaining a thumbs up when Jonathan could confirm he could talk now.
“I-I’m good.”
“Good,” he smiled, patting his shoulder. “Now, to cut to the chase. Some of the Captains have noticed your skill in fighting as well as water bending, and after a lot of consideration with the tribe leaders, we’ve decided to rank you up early.”
Jon sputtered, his eyes widening as he turned to look fully at him. “What?” he asked. “No way- n-no way!” he laughed. This was amazing news, especially sense he least expected it. He never thought he’d be good enough to move up early!
“I knew you’d be excited,” he chuckled. “You’ll be put into a fleet next week and shipped out with the other Tribal warriors to protect the surrounding territory,” he explained.
Jon really couldn’t contain his excitement, grinning and then jumping up and down with excitement. “Thank you so-so much!” he grinned, feeling the snow move with him.
-
As the day of his departure grew near, he couldn’t help but bounce with anticipation. Quite literally too, cause he just couldn’t quit moving when he was stuck standing.
He was given the week off from having to train with the class, which would have been fine if he wasn’t so restless without the activity.
So, he took to wandering the land around the tribe, mapping out the areas of places he hadn’t visited.
That’s when he stumbled on a tent and a traveler sitting outside of it.
(only cutting it cause it’s a lil long. But, also because I wanted to say Tyler is literally going to be one of my favorites to write for later on and,,, im hyped)
“You’re going to do such great things.”
Tyler’s mom always told him that, and nearly always followed it up by gushing over how great of a warrior he was going to be for their tribe.
He didn’t want to be a warrior. Not for their tribe at least.
It just didn’t seem to be a great idea, in his eyes, to stay in one place and wait for danger when their was a whole world out their that he could explore and live free in. And, maybe he could protect his people along the way.
They were just so secluded in the Southern Tribe, and while they kept contact with the sister tribe, there was never an exciting announcement to come.
Now, that’s not to say he didn’t have any good memories. He loved Ice Dodging with his dad, and learning bending from his mom was a lovely experience- when he was younger at least, since it was more innocent.
But, memories couldn’t stop him.
He stared at his bag that was packed and ready to go. He kept money on him from the spare jobs he did around the tribe, managing to accumulate a good amount to at least get him a ticket on a boat out of there. And, he had a heart to at least let his parents know he was leaving- through the form of a note.
Like hell he’d actually tell them in person! Who knew how they’d react? This was for the better.
-
He decided to sneak out that night, following a tough day of training with the other to-be-warriors. God, he really couldn’t wait to get out of there and leave that thought behind him.
His note was thought out and lovingly placed on his bed along with a picture he managed to find of them all together, which he was going to give him mom for her Birthday, but now seemed like a better time.
It was an easy task of leaving out his window and carefully making his way to the docks, where the late night ship was about to head out. He managed to by a ticket and quickly bored before they left, which he was thankful for in so many ways.
Now, there was no going back. He made his commitment and he was living with it, because now, he was going to be who he wanted instead of what the tribe wanted him to be.
