I wouldn't call this suffering, tbh. I don't ever suffer when I'm doing research, like… I get on journal databases and search for dissertations that I can download at least once a week for fun. Not even for the sake of a project I'm working on. For fun. Just to find new research-y things and read them just in case I need to know about postcolonial readings of cyberpunk or the function of some certain choice phrases in the books of the Biblical prophets or whatever for some reason, someday. so… the research isn't suffering fodder and it's not making me miserable, it's actually really fun.

....SCOTT AS A GENDER STUDIES PHD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a sudden desire for something with this.

I THINK I'VE GOT IT: Scott is like, a gender and sexuality studies PhD, and either in a joint GSS/social work program (which, I don't think that actually exists but if people are allowed to write fic where Stiles has a twin, then I'm allowed to blatantly make up Scott's PhD program because it would make me happy for this to be a thing) or he's in a program where one of the focuses he can pick for his degree is like… vaguely social work influenced, or maybe like Ohio State's WGST PhD with a focus in activism and social change, and he's all about like, the bell hooks idea that she puts forth in Teaching To Transgress where the whole point of studying things like gender and sexuality studies, or critical race theory, or disability theory, or so on is to create theories and praxes that can be easily understood and applied in the world outside of the academy, and he's probably doing all kinds of grassroots activism and volunteering to help out queer kids (especially queer kids of color) in the local area, and he's probably working with other pack Alphas to strengthen the werewolf community and make their culture a lot healthier and more in line with how Talia was an Alpha and how Deucalion was before Gerard fucked him up, less in line with how Peter was as an Alpha and how Derek was during his stint as an Alpha…
