50s avalance !!! As soon as I saw the pics I had to do this.
And under the cut is a little idea of mine.
"What if a nowadays historian gets fascinated by avalance appearing across the history?"
Avalance and the slap in the face of Sara Lance fans
Let me start with that I am fan of Sara Lance from her days as Black Canary on Arrow. When she first showed up she was just Black Canary - a woman dressed in the very recognizable Black Canary outfit with canary cry device, who was saving the Arrow and kicking thugs who were harassing innocent women. But in the course of couple of episodes she became this very full blown character with a name, past, mistakes, friends, family, regrets, loves, enemies and fights. She was sweet and broken, and loving and harsh at the same time. When they killed this complex female hero, played by an actress who even Amell said can kick his ass, I was really disappointed.
But Legends of Tomorrow brought her back. Caity Lotz shined even more as she was given amazing fight scenes, and proved she is legit Canary and not one deserving the grave. But the story of Sara, her personality, her family, her fights started to vanish and disappeared completely when they introduced Avalance.
I know this gained many more fans of Sara. I find it weird that there is the tendency female characters to be more popular if they are in a romantic couple, as if a woman is not good enough on her own, she has to be part of something. In it self this shouldn't be a bad thing, we all want to belong. But when your whole individuality is completely lost it is not a good thing.
You can be part of a couple and still be prominent character. I wanted Sara to find her significant other, whether it is Oliver, Nyssa, Cold, or someone new. I wanted this story to enrich her to give her new horizons, to make her even more human. I wanted her loved one to be a hero, to be interesting character with his/her own story. But what we've got is just a slap in the face.
Her significant other is just a literal clone of her, she is the shell of Sara and unfortunately turned Sara also into a shell. Sara Lance lost all her personality features, she does not interact with anyone else, she does not experience anything for herself, she does not have anything on her own, she is not even the solo captain. We can put aside the fact that her stories revolve around building wardrobes and being scolded for having her own working methods, or being shamed for loving a man, or her private conversations being violated.
We can put aside that she is again over and over presented as an assassin and someone who keeps secrets, we can put aside that her only repeating story is to die or be in a coma and not even have a moment to show how she feels about it. We can put all this aside if this actually was at least interesting, if it is development, if it is growth. But it is not. She is in some teenage relationship and that is why the best Avalance moment was when they were 13.
And we can put all this aside if they were actually trying to develop Ava and make her a good character. But they are not. She is insecure grown up woman, who never had a real story of her own. And all this screen time they give Avalance is not even about these two to experience something together. Obviously they are mirror images of each other, they are like twin sisters who talk simultaneously and are always together.
The story about Sara blindness for example - it was perfect opportunity this to be story just for her, as it is really personal thing. But they decided that Sara does not need a voice how she feels, it is more important how Ava freaks out about it, then Sara just realizes she is ninja and is used to the dark and problem solved. The zombies episode was another example. It was perfect to give Avalance a mutual experience. But not one more scene of how they fight as two bad asses back to back, but a real experience: how they make plan together, what the two of them feel, how they save the team in a mutual effort. Instead we had how Ava freaks out that Sara would die, Sara goes to fight the zombies alone so Ava can save the team, but Ava just stands there crying and doing nothing.
In conclusion what should have been something great for the fans of Sara turned out to be plain robbery.
Avalance fans themselves said many times they do not want any stories for Sara than the domestic Avalance scenes. I always feared that if Sara was coupled with a prominent male character she would be overshadowed, like on Arrow Oliver was the one who has the final battle or the final saying, he was the leader, and so on. But I never imagined that she will be turned into a literal puppet in a relationship with her own clone.
Avalance in a nutshell
Sara Lance while being tortured: I can’t imagine what Ava must be feeling now
Ava Sharp - didn’t even noticed that Sara was missing

Something about the Sara and Ava Ikea plotline isn’t sitting right with me...
Why do Avalance fans hate Sara Lance so much?
They call her assassin and a killer, not a hero, every time someone wants a story for her, they attack her fans who want more from her character. Why? They fetishize her character, twist everything from her past. They are mean and defensive when someone genuinely criticize something, as if no one should state an opinion different that theirs, and gosh forbid you ship Sara with someone else and think Avalance is not good, they start to call you names. Why the aggression. Isn't it obvious Avalance is end game, so what if others still like something else, so what if others express their opinions wanting more from Sara. She is an inspiration for many people, not just Avalance shippers. She was a character long before Avalance came to exist. Some of us follow Sara for years. Should we be silenced and bullied to shut up, just because we are not loud?
That Legends extended trailer it’s just nuts.
We love Legends and it’s back next week!
