Overalls. Not Glamorous, But Essential
You can see images of the traveling salesman and the growth of the industry in New Hampshire. Great New England accents to listen to. Historic New England partnered with the AVA Gallery and Community Access Television of the Upper Valley to create a documentary about the history of the H.W. Carter and Sons overalls factory. Men’s clothing got manufactured on a large scale before women’s, but women did much of the sewing as you can see in the old photographs. The workers began in their teens.
