thinking about how post!trilogy when phoenix is stuck on a case he probably often imagines talking to mia in his mind, thinks about what she would ask to lead him in the right direction, thinks about how she would look at the evidence, what she would focus on..... thinks about how while he was in the detention center the two days before his trial he was likely sat talking to himself & pretending mia was there to guide him through figuring out not only how to explain everything about the case with the evidence he knew would be at the trial (plus the one that would be brought to it), but how to also navigate whatever gets thrown in his way towards revealing the truth. which is how he could be perfectly in control of his own trial ; time to prepare n plan & imaginary conversations with his dead mentor. if mia were actually there she would've disapproved his plan to utilize his daughter as a messenger, but lucky thing she wasn't actually there & was just part of phoenix trying to figure out the next steps to take.
