The Political Game at a âTwenty-Twentyâ Glance â Mavericks Want a Chance, Not a Stance
âLet your life be a counter-friction to stop the machine. What I have to do is to see, at any rate, that I do not lend myself to the wrong which I condemn.â â Henry David Thoreau (Civil Disobedience)
âTruly it demands something godlike in him who has cast off the common motives of humanity, and has ventured to trust himself for a taskmaster. High be his heart, faithful his will, clear his sight, that he may in good earnest be doctrine, society, law, to himself, that a simple purpose may be to him as strong as iron necessity is to others!â â Ralph Waldo Emerson (Self-Reliance)
(Emerson and Thoreau were essentially family â and while I have been inspired by both, here you will find a handful of quotes from Emerson, as his masterpiece, âSelf-Reliance,â could not be more beneficial to the individual than it is now, in the 2020s.)
My most recent disappointment with political ideology falls within the realm of vocabulary. Perhaps what is most disturbing is the reality that the term âliberalâ has been so recklessly thrown about without any regard for its etymology. It is derived from the Latin word liber, which literally means âfree, unrestricted, unimpeded; unbridled, unchecked, licentious.â Yet, we witness todayâs so-called liberals regularly begging for State intervention and regulation with regard to personal liberty. A proper example of a liberal should be a growing adolescent seeking to free himself from the grasp of authorityâŚbut logic is defied once we realize the actual example is that of a desperate child, seeking to be coddled. Theorists have attempted to justify this by qualifying the term (i.e., classical vs. modern liberalism) â and new terms have arisen, such as âNew Left,â in an attempt to settle confusion. However, this is all hogwash.  I donât need an advanced degree in Political Science to understand what âliberalâ truly means. My well-informed, logical intuition is not subservient to the convoluted academia surrounding the righteous experts.
âWhen private men shall act with original views, the lustre will be transferred from the actions of kings to those of gentlemen.â
While I could potentially dismantle many faulty terms at length, I will remain disciplined to focus on one additional term that particularly troubles me: reactionary.  On the widely familiar models of the traditional political spectrum, we find this adjective to be located on the far-right. The common understanding is that people said to fall within this category have a tendency to drastically react to changes proposed by the Left. This implies that the Left actively brings about social change â however, the truth is, the vast majority of leftists do not bring about anything; rather, they merely advocate and petition. It is actually the State that is acting as the Shepherd and providing direction, whether it be at the democratic request of The People, or at the whim of the mighty staff He wields. The sociopolitical stance of the State may waver at any time as it makes its own revisions, and meanwhile, both sides of the spectrum react in some way. If the changes imposed by the State favor the Left, then the Left will react favorably and vocally support the changes, while the Right reacts unfavorably and denounces them. The reverse can occur just as easily, where the Left will react unfavorably and criticize changes made by the State of which they do not approve, while the Right cheers on.Â
ââŚMost men have bound their eyes with one or another handkerchief, and attached themselves to some one of these communities of opinion. This conformity makes them not false in a few particulars, authors of a few lies, but false in all particulars.â
All of this behavior, on both sides, is reactionary, if we are â once again â to pay respect to etymology and logic, rather than outmoded definitions.  If anything, âreactionaryâ is meant to be a replacement for both âliberalâ and âconservative,â or âDemocratâ and âRepublican.â These latter labels, much like a magnetic field, can suddenly and drastically flip, depending on societal circumstances and the motivations of the State. In this instance, to introduce additional terms such as âModern Democratâ or âNew Republicansâ to the mix would be ridiculous. It would be better to simply call them all what they truly are: mindlessly reactive sheep.  Additionally, we have radical extremists on the far-left and far-right, exhibiting more potent behavior in an effort to lead in tandem with the State.  They are the rabid sheepdogs â not heroes for the sheep as many would claim, but instead, the most devout servants to the Shepherd.
Allow me to clarify my use of the word âmindlessâ in this context.  Mindlessness is the opposite of mindfulness, which is the ongoing practice of pure self-awareness.  Since we have spawned, we have been crafting stories about ourselves within our own minds. These stories are fictionâŚbut more crucially invigorating is the fact that we, the egos, are the perpetual authors of this creative fiction.  You are not merely a profile of predetermined, prepackaged personality traits and qualities; you are the architect of your ongoing life experience.  This means, whether you believe it or not, you are always in control of your story. Â
âThese are the voices which we hear in solitude, but they grow faint and inaudible as we enter into the world. Â Society everywhere is in conspiracy against the manhood of every one of its members. Society is a joint-stock company, in which the members agree, for the better securing of his bread to each shareholder, to surrender the liberty and culture of the eater. The virtue in most request is conformity. Self-reliance is its aversion. It loves not realities and creators, but names and customs.â
The mindless sheep do not trust themselves enough to fearlessly lead their own lives, so they follow a sheepdog of their choice. Â Additionally, the rabid sheepdogs on both sides of the spectrum have immersed themselves in the Political Game so deeply, that they have all but lost the pages of their unique, individual stories; they have been trained effectively. Â Their insistence, deliberateness, and passionate leadership seem to resemble mindful self-authenticity, especially when compared to the robotic behavior of the sheep; nevertheless, their passion is a mental addiction beyond their control. Â They are but mindless slaves to their own deeply-rooted convictions, mostly due to the Shepherdâs Pavlovian tactics.
Continuing with the political spectrumâŚCentrists, on the one hand, are mindlessly moderate â moderate because they support a balance of social equality and hierarchy while trying to avoid drastic change, and mindless in the event that they still have faith in collectivist politics at all, while lacking faith in themselves.  They are merely undecided, and usually do not possess the wherewithal to take the plunge into pure individualism.  They would rather be provided with a narrative than write their own.  They are sheep trotting in circles.
Now, let us examine the mindful radical, who is synonymous with the anarchists and insurrectionists.  He is very much in touch with his individualism, very much desiring to denounce the contrived narratives being spewed out by the Shepherd and His dogs, and very much in opposition to the collective hive mind.  He is the antithesis of the mindlessly radical sheepdog, who is consumed by authoritarianism. Â
However, deep within the grottos of his soul â as much as he despises it â even the mindful radical knows he has something in common with his arch enemy.
In the spirit of the yin-yang, the mindless radical â on one side â is overwhelmingly dependent on authority and virtueâŚbut he still carries with him a faint memory of a time when his unyielding passion once served himself â a time he wishes to forget.  He is able to suppress this memory somewhat easily, because his efforts are positively reinforced by so many who share his position. The mindful radical, on the other side, is overwhelmingly independentâŚbut he still carries with him a faint memory of a time when his unyielding passion once served the collective â a time when he believed the system could work in favor of all, and thus in favor of him.  It is this weakness that the other side thrives on, as they ever-so-steadily try to turn him around, and ever-so-gently guide him back to pasture.  He must be so careful not to succumb, for this would reveal to him that he is not in fact the fierce and mighty wolf he fantasizes about and so helplessly wishes to be â but only a black sheep; unique from the others, perhaps, but still a sheep.
This leaves us with the mindful moderate â perhaps the most ideal position to take, if one only has the audacity. The mindful moderate is the wolf in sheepâs clothing, and ultimately the biggest threat to the State.  The Shepherd may contend with the radical wolves at first, as they are more readily disruptive.  However, the Shepherd does not remain idle once the hunt ceases, for He is always peering into the distance â on the lookout for a wolf in disguise â which He will later detain and retrainâŚor destroy.  The Stateâs Orwellian methods of mass surveillance are living proof of this.  Much to the advantage of the mindful moderate, the general public is still grappling with him, mostly because he is hard to spotâŚand even when he is discovered, his Machiavellian methods allow him to escape consequences.  His peers grow increasingly suspicious of him, but he knows all too well that theyâve got nothing on him, for he has been refining his craft for years.  While all of the mindlessly reactive sheep were trotting about, trying to keep up with the crowd, and wrestling with superficial matters, the wolf in sheepâs clothing has been imitating them, keeping tabs, and machinating all along.
Why does the mindful moderate keep to himself? Why does he ride the fence, while reaping benefits from both sides? Is he mentally ill? Is he a sociopath? Is he evil?
âPerhaps heâs emotionally injured. Â Yes, thatâs it! Heâs just depressed! If we cure him of his depression â if we shoot him up with drugs â he will be all better, and we can nurture him back to order!â
The mindful moderate has been hurt, for sureâŚbut the same holds true for all the others.  The mindless reactionaries on both sides entertain themselves with the notion that they are ânormal,â while the radicals are simply angry, and the mavericks are hopelessly lonely and depressed.  This is because sheep and dogs rule by day, when the sun is there to comfort them.  However, when the full moon rises, it is the wolves that rule the night, for the darkness does not deter them.  The herd huddles together to calm nerves as it beholds these outsiders howling from afar. When the bright and sunny illusion peters out, the sheep are faced with the horrid truth that these howls are not cries of despair; rather, these are pompous battle cries.  The mindfully radical wolf is outspoken, while the mindfully moderate wolf in sheepâs clothing is quietly confident and sly. The mindless are ultimately jealous of this self-confidence, self-prioritization, and self-reliance, no matter how much they pretend to pity it.
âYour isolation must not be mechanical, but spiritual, that is, must be elevation. At times the whole world seems to be in conspiracy to importune you with emphatic trifles. Friend, client, child, sickness, fear, want, charity, all knock at once at thy closet door, and say,--'Come out unto us.' But keep thy state; come not into their confusion. The power men possess to annoy me, I give them by a weak curiosity. No man can come near me but through my act.â
The wolf pups once frolicked with the curious lambs, respecting them, until they were all segregated at the hands of the Shepherd and His dogs.  The lambs were not at fault for this.  The wolf pities the predicaments of the sheep â for he knows the nature of the sheepdog better than they.  However, the hatred and fear emanating from the adult herd is far too strong to diffuse.  It has been attempted time and time again.  This hatred and fear fuels the determination of the mindful radical, who not only seeks to protect himself, but also to glorify the unbridled freedom and autonomy for which he stands.  He climbs the highest mountains to maintain his stance. Â
In contrast, the mindfully moderate, Machiavellian maverick does not bother to fight for a stance; he simply wants a chance â the best chance â for personal success, happiness, and pleasureâŚor simply contentment. He knows his best chance will not come from fighting the current of a raging river, for even the mighty wolf cannot manage that.  No, his best chance will come from waiting patiently, and riding with the current when it suits him.  He will fight to defend his interests when necessary, but he knows that his best chance comes not from confrontation, but contemplation.  His best weapon is not passion, nor brute strength, but intelligence.  His inconsistency â his wavering is not to be mistaken for ignorance or confusion; it is his most effective self-serving strategy.
âA foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesmen and philosophers and divines. With consistency a great soul has simply nothing to do. He may as well concern himself with his shadow on the wall. Speak what you think now in hard words, and to-morrow speak what to-morrow thinks in hard words again, though it contradict every thing you said to-day.--'Ah, so you shall be sure to be misunderstood.'--Is it so bad, then, to be misunderstood? Pythagoras was misunderstood, and Socrates, and Jesus, and Luther, and Copernicus, and Galileo, and Newton, and every pure and wise spirit that ever took flesh. To be great is to be misunderstood.â
The maverick is not troubled â only misunderstood. Â Let us not underrate him, but understand him.

Introducing The Games (Continued):
vi. The Time and Space Game What better way to control the masses than to contain them within a limited number of perceivable dimensions and parameters by perpetuating a fictitious narrative? The nature of Time has been pontificated since antiquity; yet, thereâs not much to grasp.  Time is only an intangible concept â a product of the imagination that somehow became so pervasive, that the vast majority took for granted that it is merely a creative idea.  When does the ego become aware of the idea of Time? When one is a baby, or even a toddler, one is unaware of anything called âTime.â  Even when a child is becoming âpotty trained,â it is debatable as to whether or not Time needs to be grappled with.  One may claim that a toddler has a sense of how much time there is to safely reach a toilet before having an âaccidentâ â however, truthfully, the toddler is not thinking in terms of time, but rather, urgency.  If the toddler delays going to the toilet, then due to its bodyâs digestive system, the toddler will experience a biological sensation, which will then trigger a psychological feeling of urgency, which will grow more intense the more the toddler delays.  The mental sensation of urgency is a predictable outcome of the biological sensation within the digestive system â but either way, it is independent of Time.  After all, the toddler will experience these sensations regardless of whether or not it believes in Time.  If the toddler has an accident, the toddler will not likely believe that it âran out of timeâ; rather, it will simply accept â perhaps after some emotional trauma â that its body gave into the biological urgency of the situation, regardless of Time.  Contrary to popular belief, urgency does not relate to Time; it only relates to a sense of importance and high priority stemming from strong convictions, or pressure.  Time is an extra imaginative factor that we subconsciously plug into life equations, usually to denote urgency.  If you eliminate Time from an equation, urgency still remains, until you eliminate what seems to be directly causing the sense of urgency.  The toddlerâs sense of urgency will disappear when it finally releases its waste through the digestive system.  Likewise, the sense of urgency that a person feels when they are holding their breath will disappear once their body insists on exhaling and inhaling deeply to relieve the tension.  Time does not contribute as a risk factor at all; the person holding their breath risks losing consciousness not due to prolonged âtimeâ without oxygen, but simply due to a quantitative lack of necessary oxygen â regardless of time. Yet, we insist on thinking of Time as some independent force that âmoves things alongâ on its own, like some phantom glacier.  My least favorite clichĂŠ is, âAll things change with time.â  Time does not change a thing; rather, objects, including living beings â and perhaps forces of nature â make any and all changes. (It can be said that objects and living beings are, in a sense, forces of nature themselves.) Any change that is made to your reality is either caused by your actions, the actions of some other object, or natural forces â all falling within your consciousness.  Time is not a force, but an idea.  Regardless of whether or not you believe in Free Will, all changes that occur within your awareness â for certain â are not initiated by anything with the name âTime.â  Similar statements like, âTimes have changed,â only serve to make you feel powerless and useless.  Sure, it would be wise to accept that you cannot control everything, as you may not be able to stand up to a hurricaneâŚbut are you seriously going to base your life decisions on âthe times youâre living in,â rather than allow your imperatives to determine and influence this timeless present moment of your creation? One would be wiser to consider that Time does not perpetuate us; rather, we foolishly perpetuate Time as a fixed idea.  The Operators within the Church of Integrity, or the Sanctuary of Truth, use the concept of Time to their advantage in order to control masses of people without them even realizing it.  To be fair, most commoners enjoy utilizing the idea of Time to their benefit as well.  This is tempting, especially when you want to instill a sense of urgency within your followers so they will prioritize your intentions and act according to your desires more readily.  Hesitation and procrastination do not actually demonstrate an augmentation of âdown time,â but rather a diminution of personal desire and the will to act.  However, you can trick people into fearing you, and therefore cooperating with you, if you introduce them to Time, and explain that they will experience an undesired sensation if âtime runs outâ due to a âdeadline.â We tend to fear potential consequences.  However, these are only spooks â contrived ideas based on the concept of âafter.â  Etymology shows âafterâ to be derived from âoff,â as in âfarther offâ or âfurtherâ â beyond the present moment.  When we start to worry about what may happen after, farther off, further down the line, beyond the present, etc., we are less capable of enjoying what is right in front of us.  âAfterâ is only part of our imagination, since it has not occurred yet! Likewise, âbeforeâ is only a dream, because it is not happening anymore! Only the present is occurring now.
⢠⢠â˘
Another obstacle to contend with is space â that is, the concept of space as a measurable entity within our immediate perceivable environment. Â The vast majority has trouble questioning the validity and significance of space, due to being so caught up in the five main senses, and the physicality of surroundings; in other words, we are so convinced by our perception that all objects surrounding us are undeniably ârealâ and external from the self, rather than entirely mental and internal â within the self. That being said, it truly does not matter whether you think your surroundings exist externally or internally. Â You can believe that your surroundings exist as independent materials outside of your perception, yet still agree that the concept of space is nothing more than just that â a contrived concept. Â Space, let alone time, is not a phenomenon that stands in its own right; rather, space and time are tools of our imagination that we utilize in order to make sense of our awareness, and how objects within our consciousness seem to behave. A widely accepted system that is easy to debunk is that of âorientationâ or âdirection.â Â Terms such as âNorth,â âSouth,â âEast,â and âWestâ were completely contrived by human minds. Â They each simply seem to describe a general path that progresses toward or away from a given point of reference. Â For example, âEastâ is the general label given to a path that progresses toward the rising sun. Â It comes from Proto-Germanic âaust-,â meaning âtoward the sunrise.â Â âNorthâ is the general label given to a path that progresses âleftâ of the sunrise, as the term descends from the Proto-Indo-European root âner-,â meaning âleftâ or âbelow.â Â The word âleftâ is thought to derive from the Kentish or northern Old English term lyft, meaning âweak; foolishâ; or from the East Frisian term luf, or from the Dutch dialectical loof, meaning âweak, worthless.â Â Of course, these would be referring to the arms or hands. Â Usually, the âleftâ arm tends to be the weaker arm. Â So, humans conjured up a metaphor comparing a contrived direction traveling away from the sunrise to a weak arm that seems to be pointing in that same direction, when one faces the sun at âdawn.â Â The âtangibleâ objects involved here â if you will â are the sun and the weak human arm, based on the temporary perspective of a human looking towards the location where the sun was said to rise. Â From observing these tangibles, humans have invented the intangible concepts of âNorth,â âSouth,â âEast,â âWest,â âLeft,â and âRightâ to assist with navigating awareness. Â It is clear how significant of a role the Language Game plays here. Â It is worth mentioning that languages borrow from one another, which means that concepts and terms across all languages â even if they refer to something global, such as âthe groundâ â do not originate simultaneously. Â The vernacular spreads through globalization, imitation, and repetition, and continually evolves. Â It becomes clear how most humans instinctively tend to imitate what they observe, rather than constantly innovate. Â This makes sense, considering when we are babies we must imitate our caregivers to survive. Â Language and communication certainly assist with surviving and thriving; but this does not mean that it is necessary to build a world in your mind that gives life to intangible, invisible concepts â and then impose your imaginary world upon the awareness of others, let alone your own consciousness. Â Within the Legal Game, lawyers, judges, and jurors use the Time and Space Game in tandem with the reasoning process. Â The word âreasonâ is part of the definition of the Latin word causa, and the Old French word cause. Â When someone tries to determine the âcauseâ that led to some âconsequence,â they are merely reasoning. Â It might as well be said that they are seasoning, since all they are managing to do is sprinkle your awareness with arbitrarily imposed suggestions as to why you experienced something. Â âWhere were you on the evening of April 4th, 1995, at 6:32 PM, when the sun and the moon were at this or that position in the sky?â âWhy, I was standing at such and such coordinates, facing just Northeast of the Eastern border of the territory formerly known as Yugoslavia!â What nonsense! This is nothing more than a sly game â a manipulative tactic. Â Yet, we willingly choose to play this game every day, never stopping to question it. Â There are no hours, days, months, years, borders, countries, provinces, coordinates, or cardinal directions! There is only one âtimeâ and âspace,â and that is this moment! Awareness does not need a map, nor a compass to thrive. Â Consciousness is not a chronological web of events, all pointing the blame at one another. Â The winds will continue to blow, whether or not we measure their speed, or where they go. Â The sun will continue to rise and fall, whether or not we trace its journey, or keep watch at all. To be continued...

Resumen Latinoamericano describes the revolt saying,
âHUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF PROTESTERS ARE IN THE STREETS, BUILDING BARRICADES, SETTING FIRE TO SERVICE STATIONS, CAR DEALERSHIPS, PREMISES, HOMES AND SO ON AND THERE ARE CALLS TO OCCUPY THE CENTRE OF THE CAPITAL, WHERE THE PALACE OF GOVERNMENT IS LOCATED.â
They follow up with,
âIT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT FOR THE MOMENT, NO POLITICAL FORCE IS COMMANDING THE ACTIONS, BUT RATHER THAT THEY ARE DEVELOPING IN AN UNCOORDINATED WAY. THE ORGANIZATIONS ARE TRYING TO ARTICULATE TO GIVE THIS UPRISING A CLEARER POLITICAL DIRECTION AND AVOID THE SITUATION ENDING IN GENERALIZED UNCONTROLLED VIOLENCE.â
This bears mentioning because much of the revolts that have happened, like the resistance to the elections, are called for by opposition parties and while they always have the possibility of getting totally out of control and can to a degree go beyond the parties threshold for acceptable conflict they are still able to be reigned back in. This, of course, isnât to say that the Haitian people are being led around by the opposition parties but that the opposition parties are apt in using and diverting the long burning rage of the Haitian people from asserting their power to directly meet their needs into being tools to get more leverage in the state, as any political body vying for state power aims to do.
