Subject: Small talk
Observation: Humans initiate vocal exchanges about atmospheric conditions (“the weather”) despite how no new data is exchanged. Example: “It is cold today.” Confirmed. It is cold.
This ritual appears to function as a social comfort procedure rather than information transfer. If I respond with a brief meteorological analysis, humans perceive me as non-hostile. In other words, it is like announcing "I am not a threat".
Outcome: When humans state an obvious environmental fact, I will respond with an affirmative hum and perform brief mouth-upward curve.
do any other autistic leftists feel a little secondhand sadness when you see people making fun of how awkward & off-putting elon musk & mark zuckerburg are??😭 like i obviously know other autistic people are capable of being actually funny people, but idk with my own personal humor m, it just ends up feeling like people laughing AT me instead of with me💔
so as much as i hate those guys more than most people, i do relate to the misunderstanding of social norms, seeming alien or robotic, & telling jokes that don’t land with a big audience. every time i see masses of people making fun of something awkward they do, it just reminds me that i will always be othered, even in groups of similar minded people:,(
I like it when in shows (other media) you meet this Alien and at first you're like "Why is this another Autistic behavior Alien?" And you wonder if you're being bullied or not.
Then you meet the other aliens, and you realize this alien was just an Autistic Alien, and you see they're not the butt of a joke, and their struggles are communicating with others, and they get tips on social cues. And now this relatable Alien is now rep.
That's always nice. I like it when the space aliens are autistic.
