I’m writing an essay on autism
Apparently one of my autistic theories has been researched and is true! I feel so validated!!
When i was a baby i had a huge vocabulary. I was only two, but already, i could say words most five year olds knew.
When i was four, i was bossy. i was a know-it-all. i was obsessed with fairies and my favourite book. I was there, but i felt detached.
When i was five, i had friends. I called one of them fat without knowing it was not appropriate. my best friends brother was autistic. it never seemed odd to me. i couldn’t wear my school uniform. itchy, scratchy.
When i was six i had meltdowns at school. my mother tried to get me into a social skills program. but then i got very, very sick.
When i was seven, i ran away from school alot. my pony tail got stuck, so i cut it off with scissors. I was obsessed with the muppets. I loved organizing my books. i still do.
When i was eight, i was homeschooled. i had no school friends, so i played on the street. the people there thought i was weird.i had never thought i was different. now i was.
When i was nine, the kids on the street tried to make me have meltdowns. usually, it worked. I also was obsessed with Harry Potter.
When i was ten, i had friends. i made friends with a girl down the street. She was bossier than me, and swore a lot. I also made friends with a very nice girl, who was very odd. i couldn’t see back then that i was just as odd as her.
When i was eleven, i loved doctor who. My best friend was struggling. The odd one. she had meltdowns a lot. i was scared of her. But concerned as well.
When i was twelve, i started to discover who i was. i cut my hair short, i dyed it multiple times, i discovered autism. i self diagnosed with input from my mum, who had suspected it for a long time. my abusive father left.
Now i’m 13. i have a diagnosis appointment in may. I’m actually autistic, and i am proud.
