Usually when you get into modeling yu will always hear that the measurements of women are everything. It's always about their hips and waist.. So for men it's basically a bit easier. Of course you should have a nice muscle tone and a good shape, but mainly the proportions have to fit. Before I came to India I was thinking as a men you should be in shape of course, but I never expected that the measurements would be as important as I know now! Especially for online catalogues where they mostly get one size which is Medium for tshirts and 40/42 for shirts. By now I even have the feeling that the requirements for measurements of male models (more precisely the measurements of the chest) are stricter than for female models.

There are some standards in the modeling industry, but if you do not meet them it doesn’t mean you cannot be succesful, especially when you extend the modeling branch to the acting branch which is not very uncommon, because modeling has a lot in common with acting. The height ranges from 5'11 feet to 6'2 usually. If you are above 6'2 feet you might still find many runway jobs and when you are below 6 feet you can also do great commercial work and acting. The requirements for the measurements depend a lot on the countries you are working in. Basically a 40 inch chest is a decent measurement to find good jobs. But if you go to Milan, Italy you will not get too much work as a big guy. It also depends on the current trend in the industry. There were times where most of the clients looked for big guys see ‘David Gandy’ who changed the trend with the ‘Dolce & Gabbana’ campaign, shot by 'Mario Testino’, but at the moment the motto is super-slim. On the other side again if you go to Asia you will work properly with a 40 chest and likewise in the United States for instance Los Angeles you can even have a 44 chest. Especially in fitness modeling. But in general a waist of 32 inches is always a good measurement to keep.
