Because I'm snooping on tags.
Considering it is labeled as a one of the four romantic quadrants I would think at least through a troll lens it would have to be considered romantic just by lable alone. It's societal function is to keep an unhealthy kismesistitude from happening yeah but it's still considered a type of romance. Same reason that on average kissing and cuddling could be seen as romantic if labeled so by humans.
So kinda, in a way, if you see kismesistitudes as romantic there is at least some romance involved in the whole ordeal since you can't have an auspictism without some kind of caliginous feelings being at play. It's not 'oh these two random trolls are gonna kill each other' because :P it's Alternia who gives a shit it's 'these two are about to be in a bad destabilizing romantic relationship that is going to cause problems for everyone I need to step in'
One, me, would argue the presence of an auspictice can romanticize a previously non romanic encounter kinda like how "oh all our friends think we're dating". It's like 'oh this person thought our normal fight was somehow more ahem Charged than it was that's embarrassing'
I don't doubt that's a tool for The Empire to scandalize emotional connection and relationship maintenance in order to deter healthier relationships OR that there are scenarios where it legit is just 'hey you two are gonna kill each other can you fucking STOP' with no romance involved (that is kinda like a Fling I would say. A one day stand but ashen style perhaps) but to completely write it off as a purely functional thing is just,,, less fun.
Society is gonna society and make extra meaning out of boring things and this is that. Kinda. Maybe.
