Aurora Act One was my first repertoire variation, and I’ve always considered it an easy one (I’ve only ever danced it on demi-pointe, though). I was wondering if you could break down the reason why you considered it one of the hardest? I agree with most of your list but would definitely add Queen of the Dryads (Italian fouettés are the bane of my existence)!
I think the variation is so challenging because it's so deceptively simple. There's nowhere to hide in that first. If you're not on your leg for all the pique arabesques, it looks clunky and awkward really quickly. The hops on pointe can also look heavy and painful, instead of light and floaty. If you don't finish your pirouettes exactly on the music, it looks immature.
As far as your Italian fouettes go, maybe check out the post I wrote on them and see if any of those ideas help!

(it's called kenrantaru grande scene/magnifique grande scène and it's a sports manga about ballet, and as a ballerina I highly approve of it :) hopefully it gets an anime soon)
Anonymous: I'm not sure if you watched this sleeping beauty variation comparison yet and ranked dancers? Also I'm interested to know if you have a fave version of the variation since they have some subtle differences. Maybe favorite costume too??
Even though this is my favorite variation, I haven’t done this video yet because to me it is a bit... sparse. Alina Cojocaru is the best at this variation and is not included. Evgenia Obraztsova and others I’d consider best at it are also omitted. I also find comparisons with ballerinas of different eras very difficult.
I like the Royal Ballet’s version and costumes the best probably.
From best to worst:
1) Sarah Lamb - 1 and 2 are quite close to me but I just am a bit partial to Sarah Lamb and I like the opening steps better. Such beautiful delicacy!
2) Ekaterina Osmolkina - Very beautiful as well.
3) Sylvie Guillem - Very beautiful, especially her arms, but her upper back seems stiff?
4) Alla Sizova - Again, hard to compare dancers of different generations. She has the character down.
5) Diana Vishneva - Why is this so slow??
6) Silja Schandorff - She’s quite a bit below the rest. Just not at their level at all.
