thinking about the twins and how their hunts interplay with each other and I know I did that on purpose but still like
Auri having a wyld hunt from the start and it being to find the pale tree's sibling seeds, but Liaur didn't have a wyld hunt and she refused to leave him to go pursue her hunt until he got one, but Liaur didn't get a hunt until after Auri was forced to leave him behind when fleeing the court, and even still, even with him out of her life, she refused to pursue her hunt and went fully soundless just to shut it up
meanwhile Liaur joins the nightmare court and gains a dark hunt, and his hunt ends up being to find a sibling tree of the pale tree that's already grown in the maguuma, and his sister never came back for him with help, and he isn't the same anymore anyway, so he pursues his hunt and he succeeds in it but it does cost him everyone he was ever close to
and just like
Auri cutting ties with all of her friends and connections while trying so hard to avoid her hunt after she lost her brother and Liaur losing all his friends and loved ones because he pursued his hunt after losing his sister

Auralyssum - Orrian Historian - “My eye? Well, you see, it’s this really funny story involving three pirates, a barrel of booze, and a risen chicken.”
Sylvari Elementalist - female, she/her - bisexual
Emerging two decades back, Auri emerged from hers and her twin brother’s pod first. She was eager to see the world, but specifically with him at her side. The twins were close, downright inseperable, through their time in the Grove, exploring everything together. They were so close, that despite Auri having a wyld hunt calling to her, she’d rather stay with her brother, who had no calling of his own. Things stayed idyllic and bright until the day the Nightmare Court captured them both.
Auralyssum doesn’t know how long she was captive in that camp, being tortured with her brother through attempt after attempt at converting either of them. Then one day, the wardens came. There was a fight, and in the chaos, a warden tried to help the twins escape. Auri made it out, and her brother, he went back to make sure she would.
Auri was furious and devastated when she found out no one went back for her brother. Despite all of her fighting and shouting and begging, the wardens had all given up on trying to save him. He’d been moved, he couldn’t be found, and it was probably too late anyway. So after months of arguments, Auri packed up and left the Grove. For the first time in her life, she was alone, and it hurt. So she left.
She moved to Lion’s Arch. She got a job working as a medic for the fighting pits in the city, she got a place of her own and a roommate to help cover the bills, and she got some distance and started building a new life for herself. She even started pursuing her interest in writing, and exploring her passion in Orr and it’s history. She’s even been published now, under a pseudonym, sharing her extensive knowledge and research on the history of the human gods and getting paid for it. It’s great! It’s fine! She’s doing just fine without Liaur.
-
Auralyssum prefers to not fight. She focuses mostly on speed, stealth, and tripping up or knocking down anyone who tries to come against her. She’s learned to be fast on her feet and crafty with all the time she’s spent in Orr and other old ruins, studying and exploring and trying to not get eaten. At home, she lives in a cozy little apartment with a roommate it’s best to not ask questions about, and when she isn’t busy writing, Auri likes to practice cooking or go out on the town to party and meet people. She doesn’t get close to people often after losing her brother, but she counts her strange roommate, Ilse, and fellow Orr nerd Trahearne as friends.
(end notes: I made auri after a long stressful day and just went “yeah she’s pretty!” followed shortly by “but what if she had a twin?” Her twin brother, Liaur, is actually about a week younger in terms of in game bday because I redesigned him a couple times. She actually sat at level 20 for like 5 years before I used my eod level boost on her xD)
🎁 - How do they feel about their birthday/birthdays in general? She doesn't celebrate it. It soured for both Auri and Liaur after they were separated by the court, and even though they're in each other's lives again, neither celebrates their awakening day anymore. She's always down to help with a birthday party for someone else though, she usually makes tons of food for those events
🍷- How do they feel about alcohol? Honestly, she'd rather get high, she gets to be a little... much when she's drunk
🗣️ - How do they handle public speaking? She doesn't. She regularly turns down offers to host a class or seminar at the priory because she always just forgets what to say, even when she has cue cards. She gets really rambley and carried away and it isn't fun for anyone.
Look, Auri, I know having a roommate who's loaded with cash is great for helping pay rent between books, but... you really really do need to question where they get said gold when they keep coming home covered in blood and carrying a new, somewhat stained coin purse. All those murders you pretend not to know about Are going to catch up to you some day, babe, and the sea monster you live with isn't going to help with bail

🧐 🧐 🧐 Can you tell us about some characters you feel you don't often get to talk/write about?
fiiiinally getting to one of these lmao my bad! I’ve got a looooot of characters I don’t get to talk about much but tbh it’s a little bit my own fault for never bringing them up
First up, here’s Auri! Twin sister to my warrior, Liaur, Auri is a professional author with a focus on and special interest the human gods and their history. Fun fact, she lost her eye to the nightmare court when she was younger, but that’s a very uncomfortable memory to bring up. Whenever people ask, she tells some new, wild story that she makes up on the spot. Her favorite is the one with the risen chicken and barrel of rum.
Next is Sevos! Formelry Havocshot of the Shot warband, Sevos left the legions a few years back. Her father is a prominent flame shaman and ally of Effram’s. “Fun” Fact, she was kidnapped by the ash legion as a very young cub, much to her sire’s despair. Her and most of the Shot warband were actually cubs kidnapped from enemies of the main three legions.
Finally! Soledia is the “oldest” sister of a group of pod quadruplets! The other three belong to @likemesomesalads @mystery-salad and @commanders-sole-braincell !!! Fun fact, she spent time first as a bandit captive, then as a bandit leader while searching for her sisters after they were captured and disappeared. The leader of the group that captured her, who she briefly replaced, is trying to track her down to convince her to lead with him. She’s learned some very unsavory skills on the road to reunite her family uwu
1) Are they woodier or leafier? Succulent, deciduous, evergreen?
Liaur and Auri are both on the petally end of the spectrum. They're smooth and soft to the touch, with certain parts of their bodies building up to tough and thorn like points.
5) what’s their relationship with gender?
Liaur is a non dysphoric trans man. He has a very comfortable relationship with his gender and his body, but has definitely had issues with shaping his personality to be more in line with what people would expect from a gay trans guy in the past.
Auri has never really questioned her gender. It's a thing, and she likes she/her pronouns as a way of differentiating her from her brother.
8) during what cycle were they born?
The two of them are night blooms. Back before they were both captured by the court, they rarely shared information or secrets with anyone besides each other. These days, Auri is prone to disappearing off to Orr without warning and tends to lie compulsively. Liaur now works for the Order of Whispers and I think that speaks for itself.
14) what did they see in their Dream?
Their dreams are a bit jumbled for both of them and hard to figure out. Like they both only got half of some bigger picture and some greater destiny.
Liaur saw less. He saw great flames bending to his control and people kneeling before him, praising his achievements. He saw himself holding a legendary blade, but did not recognize his own hand.
Auri saw more. Significantly more. She saw herself leading an army. She saw the seas bending to her. She saw the skies parting for her. She thinks she saw the balance of the world. Most importantly, Auri saw a cave full of seeds, and a man picking one up before hiding the rest away. Her wyld hunt is to follow in that man's footsteps and find these seeds, presumably the siblings of the Pale Tree, but she's adamantly ignoring it.
Who would wear a costume of one of the six human gods?
Auri would happily dress up as any of the six since the human gods are her special interest! Wrelia would be down to dress as Grenth. Fade would dress up as Lyssa just to spite the goddess. And Whom could be convinced to dress up as their boss, Grenth, for a prank but not for halloween
