So where’s the deck of playing cards?

The card deck is next on my list of DOTU side projects, but it’s a major project because I’m redoing almost all of the 7-year-old art.  So it’ll be awhile before that’s for sale, and there will probably be a Kickstarter involved.  (The card shot on that post was from the new comic page.)

RedBubble doesn’t do card decks so I’d use a different supplier.

Are you saying that slavery is practiced and legal across the underground?

In the underground, there’s often a fine line between slavery and freedom.  West Sphere dogs are the most blatant form of slavery, and yes, it is technically legal for all underground citizens to purchase or rent them.

I found this comic inspiring because I could see how it was drawn. Here was a full length funny, clever sketch comic that was rough around the edges but a compelling read. It made me think this might be possible.

   I’ve wondered for a long time why you don’t have a Patreon or post on Tapastic where people could tip you. I can’t currently fund people on Patreon, but you are one of the people I would fund if I could. I would definitely tip you regularly on Tapas if you were on the site and set up for it.

I actually do post F-ST on Tapastic!  I post three pages on Wednesday, instead of one page M/W/F on SmackJeeves.  Fun fact: the postings are not the same between the two sites. I use the multiple platforms to try out different page order sometimes, and change small bits of dialogue between them as well. There’s a panel or two that exist on one and not the other... It’s a fun way for me to see what of two options works better :)

I thought I was enrolled in the tipping program, but I can’t find anything that confirms that. Anyone know? I know the comic isn’t formatted well for reading on mobile... I can definitely re-enroll if I’m not.

As for Patreon, I answered an ask about that a while back. I am considering it (especially now that I’m having mounting medical costs o.o), but I know right now I don’t have enough of an online presence for it!

Serialisation is an interesting problem in that it is extremely delayed gratification for the reader and so it can be hard to keep their attention. At the same time, it allows the author to work progressively without having to invest years of work with not income or feedback and the throw it over the wall. That said, I’m curious about your lost subscriptions. Do they matter? I can’t imagine your patrons or regular supporters dropping out over a plot line diversion.

Subscriber count on a less-profitable mirror site doesn’t really matter, but it was an interesting means of quantifying the effect of that particular scene.  I was more concerned about reader engagement on the main site.  I tend to be motivated by other people’s excitement, so if the excitement isn’t there, I have to find other ways to stay motivated and creative and get the work done - which is why I classified these scenes as just being more difficult.

I think this is the best valentine's post I've seen, and it's pure Pogo for certain. His only (potential) problem is if everyone takes him up on the offer.
