The bands represent bracelets found that date back to the bronze age. This represents the long history of human inhabitantation of the area. There are two of them to represent the mainland and the island of the municipality. The blue and gold represent the sunset over the ocean.

🥕 Mange vet at klorofyll er det som gjør blader grønne. Men hva med de andre fargene som kommer frem når klorofyllet forsvinner på høsten? De har kanskje vanskelige navn, men du kjenner de fra andre sammenhenger: Det guloransje kommer av det samme β-karotenet som finnes i gulrøtter. Lutein er det som også gjør eggeplommen gul. Lykopen er det samme stoffet som gir tomater sin fine farge. Blader med mye rødt skyldes antocyanin, som blåbær er stappfulle av. 🤓 . 🥕 Many people know chlorophyll is what makes leaves green. But what about the other colors that emerge when the chlorophyll disappears in the fall? They may have difficult names, but you know them from other contexts: The yellow-orange comes from the same β-carotene as in carrots. Lutein is what also makes the egg yolk yellow. Lycopene is the same substance that gives tomatoes their nice color.
