The Stargazer
A black out,
Was all it took,
To reveal such beauty
Emanating from the dark sky.
No streetlight could deny
Nor compete with the majestic sight
Such splendor in simplicity,
The cosmos in all its divine beauty
No season dull
No constellation, the same,
No willful soul forgets,
The parts that made the whole.
The soul revels,
The heart flutters,
Every corner is seen, but is enigmatic
To someone as naive as me
On most nights
I’d peek outside
to check if I’ve still got the patterns right
I always have, until I met you
Never thought you would come - that the universe would even dare,
To get a hold of my soul and yours too,
To let the stars align
And make it seem like everything was true
You were like an aurora
A wonderful and rare occurrence
You were light, my light
And never had I felt something so strong,
So genuine,
So kind,
So pure,
So ridiculous.
But sometimes
Celestial bodies,
And auroras alike
Are not what you’d thought they’d be
Sometimes,
You’ll be mistaken,
Get the patterns mixed up
And the feelings wrong too.
That celestial warmth
Now gone,
My willful soul disheartened,
As my fate has fold and turned.
I misread the signs,
Put them together like a constellation
That in the end fell apart
And only left me where I was before
The atmosphere had never been this dim
Never had I imagined a starless night.
How could the cosmos be so cruel
And love be so fleeting?
A black out,
Was all it took,
to reveal such beauty
emanating from the dark sky.
But now here I am
Again, in waiting,
Uncovering the signs
Honesty from stars, I am hoping
Rediscovering the constellations
Thinking maybe the stars had their reasons?
Hoping one day, I’ll get the patterns right
And never go wrong in any season.
