there was a time when good things happened and i saw it as heaven's gift, when bad things happened and i had a place to kneel. now it's up to me to define what is good and bad, and where it all comes from. it's exhaustingly lonely. i am alone. i am untouched. there are worlds surrounding me, but also a world within me that has deconstructed into many inscrutable forms. but in all of my growth, i can't ever let go of the spirit, the great presence i swear we all know. the warm flame between me and a friend as we share a bottle of wine and lean into vulnerability. the calm sense of purpose after i finally write a poem. it's like something otherworldly whispers to me, this is the reason. this is the why. this is the answer you broke yourself to find. this is the whole damn point of it all.
