I'd love it if more people understood the difference between hallucinations and illusions. So let me try to explain with examples. [TW: examples of auditory hallucinations and illusions described as you experiencing them]
1. Imagine you are home alone with your windows closed and it's silent. And then you hear unfamiliar voices talking about you, it sounds like they are coming from another room. You go to check but no one is there. Your brain created entire voices of people out of thin air. This is a hallucination. There is nothing but your brain creates something.
2. Now imagine you are in the same scenario but your windows are open but the curtains are closed. You hear your neighbors having a conversation, and you hear it as them talking about what you are doing in that moment. They couldn't possibly see what you are doing, so realistically they can't be talking about you, but your brain makes you change the words and hear it that way. This is an illusion. There is something but your brain changes the real thing into something unreal.
It's not always easy to know the difference when you are experiencing it. But if you do know which one it is (nothing there and something unreal appears or something there changes to something unreal) then I think it can be really helpful to label the symptom accurately.
For me it was helpful to gage the effectiveness of my medication. I noticed that I have more illusions than hallucinations, and for me that was a sign of improvement. It can also go the other way, to see if your psychosis is getting more severe.
Risset Rhythm, the drum beat that is always getting faster (or is it?) I’m a big fan on auditory illusions, and this is a great one. Skip around in the video if you’re not sure if you’re losing your mind or not.
If you listen long enough you will hear the opposite version: Thinking it’s actually slowing down, not speeding up.
Binaural beats synchronize brain activity, don’t affect mood
Binaural beats, a form of auditory illusion, caused far apart brain regions to synchronize with each other at a different frequency than the beat. The auditory illusion did not, however, alter mood.
This is a silly idea that I tried a little bit and it’s not working for me, but I don’t really know what I’m doing so I’d like to throw it out there and see if someone smarter could make this work.
Binaurals are neat of course. For those unfamiliar, when the brain receives differing tones in the right/left ear, it somehow automagically extrapolates a tone within the brain of what the frequency ~difference tone would sound like - despite the fact that the human ear would not normally be physically and to ‘hear’ a frequency as low (These are almost always low frequency tones) as what the brain is extrapolating. There is a verified tendency of brainwaves to ‘sync’ frequencywise with these tones, which makes them useful for trance states. Obviously this only works on headphones (where they are separated out into left/right channels) or in the midst of femdom conspiracy stories (Where I’m pretty sure two supermodels can have the same effect humming and whistling with a minimum of practice while convincing men to vote for our sexy sexy overladies. One Man, One Vote, One Time!)
At some point it occurred to me you ought to be able to combine this with the Shepards Tone audio illusion. Shepards tone involves a ‘falling; frequency that seems to fall infinitely by fading out at specific intervals and fading in at a higher frequency - kind of an auditory M.C. Escher painting.
Playing with Audiocity, I thought just by timeshifting the same shepard tone into the right/left stereo channels you ought to be able to generate the same type of binaural tone in combination with a seeming infinitely falling tone, which would be really cool in an induction.
That plan isn’t working. It’s feasible this is because of something fundamental I’ve misunderstood, but I suspect it’s either because I just don’t know what I’m doing or the initial Ogg Vorbis file I was using has insufficiently ‘pure’ tones. (Note - the attached file is a converted MP3 of an Ogg Vorbis File, because Tumblr does not recognize Ogg, due to a gypsies curse rendering it forever 1995 in Tumblr HQ. So, Compressed Conversion of a compressed audio format.)
Since I really don’t know enough about audio to even know which direction to research, I thought I’d throw this out to my fellow femdom hypnophiles and see if somebody went ‘Oh - yeah, that’s easy, watch this!’
Thanks, Pug

This is the freakiest shit.
These Audio Illusions Will Blow Your... Ears. It's Not Just Your Eyes That Can Deceive You.
These Audio Illusions Will Blow Your… Ears. It’s Not Just Your Eyes That Can Deceive You.
Your eyes aren’t the only part of your body that can be tricked. Optical illusions are fun and maybe you can understand why the happen… but what about auditory illusions? There are more ways to fool your brain! You can no longer trust your ears. Processing stimuli can be tricky business, for both our eyes and our ears (and even our nose and mouth). Sometimes, your mind will want so badly to…
