question about akotas: did you go in intending to write them with subtle hints to some kind of mutually triadic relationship? or did it just come up as you were writing the strips? just out of curiosity :) because there were a decent handful of nudges towards something between lancelot and arthur in a few of the timelines, and i was wondering if it was intentional from the beginning (or at least early on) or not. i love your work!
Yes, it was intended from the outset that Arthur would be bisexual and in love with Lancelot as much as with Guenevere.
In the fairy tale arc, as with Kay's and Bedivere's homosexuality in the fairy tale timezone, Arthur would never realize it.
In the space opera timezone it was to come into the plot of the endgame of the realm, as summarized in the comic strip I linked to earlier today, done that way because I concluded the project early when my late wife took ill. Below the strip proper are reprints of several space- and contemporary- timezone strips which foreshadowed the development.
In one of the strips there, there's foreshadowing that suggests that contemporary Arthur was going to reveal his full feelings in his webcomic. In this The Hero of Three Faces strip (from the days of panel-per-screen formatting) it happens differently. Which event is "correct" continuity is up to the preference of the reader.
As for "mutually triadic", there are pieces I've drawn here and there since the conclusion of the webcomic proper which suggest contemporary Lancelot does become comfortable being intimate with Arthur to a great degree (see the AKOTAS pages at The Hero of Three Faces linked from the AKOTAS front page and see my #atumblr tag at this blog and at my archive blog). I have yet to address whether he just becomes acclimated to Arthur being present while Lancelot is intimate with Guenevere and vice versa, or whether Arthur and Lancelot, in a nutshell, fuck.
Thanks for reading.
